I have always had great results with the oval-plate 12BH7s. Despite being a bit weird looking compared to the usual suspects, their electrical characteristics and longevity are really good. And I've never had a microphonic one either.

While I have found some American-made examples, most of the ones I find are Canadian. All styles too; black plates, gray plates, shiny plates, matt plates. They's all good:)
