The that was that is part of it too. It got you home. Make of that what one will but many examples. It's a fine line between being aware of possibilities and giving them too much attention.

My experience is things go wrong in 3s (triplets). You already have that number.Went on a nice relaxing vacation, settling back into the home routine.
That routine seems to include an ever growing list of things that have decided to break.
My garage door opener failed yesterday - came home from an errand and just as I was about to pull in, the door dropped like a guillotine! I barely got the car backed up. Seems like the latch that connects the door to the drive screw broke.
While trying to enjoy the rest of the day, the house got continually warmer. I knew the A/C was working the other day, but couldn't feel cool air anymore. Yup, the fan wasn't blowing.
Monday, we're having the termite exterminator come as we have some on the west side of the house on a long facia run.
And, I'm still trying to find a solar contractor to fix a failed microinverter for my panels.
What else could go wrong?

My former neighbor had a pipe break while he was away on vacation. When he got home the water was coming out the small basement windows near the ceiling of the basement. I couldn't even imagine pulling in the driveway and seeing that sickening mess.
In my case nothing quite that drastic but my 18" Def tech sub decided it was time to go to sub heaven during my last extended vacation. Yes crap does happen at the worst possible times sometimes.

The blessing is that it did not burst into flames while you were away!
Our last trip to visit my inlaws was late October. We got home midDay Sunday and - Emma smelled Chlorine as we entered the house. went downstairs and found one of those blankity blank plastic lines for the icemaker that we had clamped off had split from age, popping loose from the saddle valve and was spraying water all over the laundry hanging on a laundry rod, over my open toolbox, and had started flooding the basement.
Fortunately, it appeared it had only been running an hour or so, MAX ... could have been SO MUCH WORSE.
Also fortunately, earlier that summer, we'd had a plumber in to replace the main shutoff valve since it was ancient and no longer worked to shut the mains off.
So we could turn off the main water while I fixed the problem!

It's one of Murphy's three laws, 'Anything that can go wrong will go wrong' and the other two being 'Nothing is as easy as it looks' and 'Everything takes longer than you think'.
EG The other day, nothing went right for me either in the garden or in the shop. What should have been simple everyday tasks turned into items getting damaged or broken. In the evening, I was going to set the bias on a HK 330B and call it done but something inside me told me not to touch it and do it some other time, which is exactly what I did.
After a good sleep, everything went fine the next day and nothing I touched was jinxed. Yes siree, my cup is half full!

You could be Murphy.
Murphy is a bachelor most of his life, but goes to a party one night and meets the girl of his dreams. After a reasonable courtship, he proposes and they get married. They fly to Acapulco for their honeymoon, but while watching the divers at the cliffs, she slips, , hits her head on a rock, falls in the water, and drowns. Murphy is devastated and goes into seclusion.
After a year or so, some friends convince him to move on, and invite him to another party. There, he happens to meet a young lady that is unusally similar to his first wife. They date a bit, and once again Murphy marries her. They fly off to San Francisco for the honeymoon. Unfortunately, while walking along a beach on a bit of a stormy afternoon, a huge wave drags her off into the water and she drowns. Murphy can't believe this happened again, and goes into hiding once more.
After three years, he is again convinced to move on with his life, and attends a friend's wedding. There at the reception, he meets a woman who is almost a dead ringer for his first two wives - he can't believe it!..He convinces himself that the third time's a charm, dates her for a bit, and proposes. They get married and leave on their honeymoon. Given the fact that his first two wives died in the water, he decides to avoid that scenario altogether and books a private flight to Las Vegas. I'm sort of convinced there is a required level of broken things in any given person's life. Never seems to fail that when you fix one thing, something else breaks. I was pouring fresh oil into a leaf vacuum that I bought, doing what I thought was going to be the last repair and maintenance item and the carb started dumping fuel out of it.
Working on my diesel to tune the injection pump to reduce the smoke, and one of the brake calipers went bad.
I replaced the caliper and have the carb kit on order. I'm vaguely terrified at what will fail in retribution for this. Half expecting it to be the other caliper, but since I bought one I'm sure it won't be that. My luck it will be a rear caliper, which is a serious problem because they are not available, nor are the seal kits. My fix there will be to steal the brackets off my parts car and convert it to the later style rear brakes that I can actually get.

Anytime you change a caliper you should also change the brake hose going to it. I learned that the hard way

Sounds like my 'daily reality' for the last 3 years. It just 'won't stop'.
Me too, and among the things that broke - same as you! - my garage door, AC (bought a new Trane and it totally screwed up - had new coils put in twice, reefer crashed out, new reefer crashed out, on my 3rd reefer now, my Lincoln SUV had a catastrophic meltdown - got a new Hyundai, got hit by Hurricane IAN and the surge (substantial damage), my NAD CD player crashed out hard - right into the garbage, & it goes on and on and on. It's raining nails. Not fun.
It's like - what next???
So... I hear ya Erik! All you can do is -- deal with it ... & hope the weirdness stops..

The hoses were new with the calipers 5 years ago. No issues that I could find, and I didn't drive it long enough for anything to get hot enough to worry about. The hoses I took off were original, 35 years old, and completely shot.
I pulled the caliper apart and found some rust flakes in there. I had flushed the brake fluid when I did the calipers but I suppose its not impossible I moved some rust into the caliper during that process and it finally caused an issue. Probably due for another flush on all of my cars honestly. Two of them have some rather expensive and/or impossible to find parts so if changing the brake fluid reduces the chances of problems I'm fine with doing it.
I use a syringe to draw out the dirty brake and clutch (if you have one) fluid. Don't draw out every last bit to expose the cylinder holes; that way, you may not need to bleed the system.
Dirty brake fluid can cause the car's master cylinder to begin leaking. The black particulate matter ruins the piston seals.
I change fluids once every two years.
