I believe ADS did have optional bases specifically for yours. Look for bases for 1590’s on the web, you’ll see what they look like. I restored a set of 1590’s with the bases and can post a few pics later. Obviously you’ll need to make your own for the correct size.So as you may recall I just joined the ads club with the purchase on a pair of 1090 small towers love em but they are a bit wobbly on the carpet, They don’t have threaded inserts. So curious what ads fans have been using on carpets. I tried a set of three heavy maple shade brass footers on one but still a bit shaky. Threw a subdude under the other but only a marginal stability improvement
I’d would love to buy some outriggers from soundocity but just checked shipping costs..and they are charging 80 bucks for a set to ny. Awaiting confirmation from them if this correct...
So would I’ve to hear what folks have done...,screwed in some spikes? Thanks any other thoughts?

If you got some that look nice you have upgraded the speaker to nearly like new status as a number of newer speakers have those feet.I sprung for a pair of the outriggers. Crazy that they cost as much as the speaks. But I like the stability ...
I’ve got 810’s that I bought new in 1981. It’s the walnut cabs with the metal grilles, it’s the soft dome mids and tweets that sound so sweet. You can listen for hours and and not wish you were somewhere else. I can remember the day i walked in to Modern Music in Memphis and heard these speakers. Unlike anything I’d ever heard before!

I also have ADS L810's and Polk Monitor 7 B's (peerless tweets), I don't find my ADS 810's boomy at all... actually pretty sweet sounding. I have them on 18" inch stands out a foot from the wall powered by a Marantz 2252b. I like the 7's to but the 810's kicked them out of rotation. I'm going to hook them up again, but I have a feeling the 810's will still sound better. Keep us posted!View attachment 1821966 View attachment 1821965
I realize old post but just picked up some “version 1” I guess of the L810 with the cloth grills from original owners. Nearly pristine shape with the beautiful walnut cabs. They sound different than my Klh 5 I justvrecapped and my Polk 7b way th the peerless tweets and also recapped. With sone music like certain rock the L810s are very boomy on the base. I have it at the flat setting. I listen to mostly 50/60 jazz so in that case pretty perfect. Still auditioning them Love my Polk’s and Klh we shall see. View attachment 1821961
I'm guessing they didn't have any L1590s?I took my ADS L1290 speakers to a hi fi shop with a wad of money in my pocket to trade them in , There was nothing in the store that sounded better to me so I left, with my ADS...
Having the one tucked in the corner isn't ideal, but I know we have what space we have. Also the hard floor in the room can create reflections that will alter the sound. As an experiment you might try pulling the corner speaker out and shifting it in front of the stereo stand so it's not tucked in the corner . Also pull the other speaker out in front and then balance their positions. I know this wouldn't be a placement you could live with, but it might be interesting and revealing for a listening session.View attachment 1821966 View attachment 1821965

Whoops, I have L1090s. But in my defense it was almost thirty five years ago when I bought themI'm guessing they didn't have any L1590s?![]()
Inquiring minds want to know.
Hi, I own the l1290's since 1985, love them. I'm considering adding 1-2 more ADS speakers, possible 810's and another pair of 1290's that seem to be all new through Richard So. I would love to understand why ADS made so many speakers-L200-l1590 etc. I Would love to understand if there was a pecking order as they produced all these different speakers. Which was rated higher end by ADS and fans as well. It is way too much trying to figure out which to get when there are so many to choose from. Thanks, enjoyed all the posts very much.
