They have a unique sound for sure. They also require a metric ton of power to run them properly, unless of course you spend some big bucks with Ohm and get them updated. If you don't have at least 300w/ch (more like 500w/ch) or plan to upgrade properly, leave them alone. Need big boy pants on to make them sing...

What does unique mean? Would you say unique in a good way? Power is not a problem. I have a very robust amp.

My room mate out of collage had a pair. They were NOT particularly power hungry, as I remember... not as bad as the DQ-10s we played around with at the same time. IIRC, we used a number of amps from Dynaco ST-70s all the way up to a couple Crown DC-300a, and he usually ran them off an Adcom GFA-1.

I liked them quite a bit, their sound was not all that different than Ohm C2s, but a bit better dispersion, and they went an octave lower. They may have been a little bass heavy, but they never sounded dull, or slow in the lower frequencies. Imaging wasn't extraordinarily precise, but they produced a good sound stage, with more depth than most box speakers from the seventies. We used them as "party speakers" because they sounded good even as you walked around the room... much like the Walsh line does.

Wonderful speakers capable of high output capability(1500 watts) without much distortion. Party on!
Relatively inexpensive Seas 22tTAF/G metal tweeters can add airiness to complete excellent imaging.

Supposed to meet the guy and test them out. Brought a Yamaha m-80 for test. Not sure they will sound better then my Kaapa 8's.
