What new product would you like to see?

I totally agree with Ron. That price point would have to be made in Asia and would completely compromise the brand. Remember the BMW 318ti -a disaster!

The 318ti is reliable and gets great gas mileage, love that BMW.

I miss the MC122 great little amp. I believe it was $1100 new. Used $600 or so, modern speaker hook ups. I would love McIntosh to have an entry level amplifier like that again. Also the C-15, great preamp $1500 new about $800used.

For a new unit maybe a nice little 2 channel receiver, say 80-100 watts per channel. Like a vacation home receiver.

entry level

Well, entry level is kind of subjective. You could have the "mac daddy" of all ipod docs and it could be relatively affordable, same for more simple product such as a remote.

Although servicing and continuing support of older gear is break even at best, that does not mean McIntosh should change. Many at the factory have genuine affection for the old models just as their owners do. Used is a nice way to start with McIntosh and all product generations should work with each other.
The new amp you buy today should be making great music 40 some years from now like ones I use.

Thanks,
Ron-C

I liked the ad in TAS I saw, which basically said the same thing you are saying here. Had a picture of my amp for it. :D

Excellent business model as well. I think many have bought an older unit, got hooked with the brand and then purchased new ones.

I guess "entry Level" is a loaded statement. I would never want Mcintosh to change, I love my 35 year old gear's sound and the glass faces are beautiful. I just was answering the question of what I would like to see. If it can't be done by lowering the output (not the quality) to 50wpc to 100wpc nowadays then it can't be done. But I sure would love to have seen it.

Dawned on me in the shower

MAC could engineer a super monitor plus based upon the array of the xr 200 and the aluminum chasis. Perhaps smaller cabinet size anticipating the use of a subwoofer.

Ok, here's my revised wish list:

1. A tube amplifier with the circuit design of the MC275 and the modern aesthetic of the MC2102.

2. A tube preamplifier with the circuit design of the C2300 and the vintage aesthetic of the C22 (in other words, make the 60th anniversary edition a permanent addition to the product line-up).

3. An external multiband equalizer with DSP room correction software (looks like we just might get something like this).

4. A mini system that isn't butt ugly. Seriously, McIntosh can do much better than the 60th Anniversary system.
