I have similar experience to you.
I think we underestimate room and placement influence on speaker performance.
 
The IB1 that Kal Rubinson reviewed is no longer in production... Based on his review I think he would be happy to find that the EB1i is the version that he sought after spending time with the IB1's. It is essentially the IB1 in a floorstanding version with 13ft of effective ATL length, compared to 8 ft found in the IB1.

Where are you? Welcome here... Glad that you decided to join and contribute.

I am in the West and looked really hard to audition some PMC's.
 
Are you still in the same category of 10k or less?

Ebay had some XRT28's going for 5-6K/pr... Now those would be a fun upgrade...
 
I am here in Orange County, the PMC USA office is here in Irvine... I would be more than happy to set up demos for those local or surrounding counties.
 
Try Totem

I'd like to second the earlier suggestion about Totem speakers. I own the Model Ones in a system containing a MC275 Mk.5 and a MCD301. They are great in my small (14x16) room. I have a friend who owns the Mani 2's with a MC402, C2200, Cary 306 and an Avid, SME, Benz vinyl setup in a large room. It is amazing at how powerful the Mani 2's sound for a small sound mounted speaker. I've heard the Forest and liked them but not the Winds.
