What Record Are You Hearing Now?

I love Peter Gabriel. I’ve been through almost all of his work but this album, “i/o”, for some reason, escaped me.
So, I found a new copy at Barnes and Noble. Pulled it out and took it to the counter to buy. Sticker price is $53.99. No surprise as that’s the cost from anywhere.
Guy rings it up and the screen for payment reflects what he says to me: “With tax, that comes to $5.40.
Being an honest guy I tell him that as much as I’d love to have this brand new P. Gabriel album for 5 bucks, I told him he made a mistake.
Nope. He insisted that it was on their “Last Chance” sale list for a 90% discount.
I pressed. Said that it had to be a mistake. He assured me the $5.40 was the correct price.
So, I walked out with a brand new incredible recent album by a favorite artist, Peter Gabriel.
I still think he made a mistake. But I’m truly enjoying this double album as I type this. I’m running it through my Eico HF87 with Gillespie mods. Gorgeous.

B&N occasionally has $5 dollar records, and this must have fallen in that category. They might have forgotten to put the $5 sticker on the LP or maybe if fell off or was peeled off. Either way, that was an excellent buy!
Yeah, he basically said that it was designated as a $5 record but was accidentally mixed in with the regular stock. I still think it was a mistake but…maybe not. Either way, I was VERY happy to get this album for 5 bucks! I listened to it twice last night and thought it was excellent!
