That was new to me. I kinda love her voice, but I kinda hate the slick pop production. I'll try to look past it and enjoy her voice on a few more vids.

I like pop when it's done well with a great voice. Maybe it will grow on you.
I would've said the same thing a few years back.What's nice about her stuff is that she does most of it completely on her own. That track was actually a demo that she never finished.
I had the Warpaint version stuck in mine the other day.

Yeah, I did read a little about her on Wikipedia. I do like the independent approach--but being independently pop is still being pop. It's sort of how I would feel about an independent commune that produces coffee--like the idea, still don't like coffee. If her voice is the caffeine, however, I might drink a little from time to time, just for the buzz it would give me.

Considering the average age of users on here, the assumption doesn't surprise me. 42 would be much more likely.

I was just going by the posted article that says 42 is when people start to think that pop music is ok again. I guess you're an early bloomer.

I saw that article, and it may apply to some people, but I never fell in and out of love with pop. I never was really a fan of Top 40 cookie-cutter pop, and other than a few exceptions, I'm still not. When I was younger, I avoided pop and any "girly" music. I stuck to rock music with male vocalists, mainly classic rock. Then, around junior/senior of high school, I stopped caring what anyone thought and just accepted that I love female vocalists and I like pop and many other genres. Even after that, certain artists have grown on me that I didn't like just a couple years back. Even while I was playing Feist, The Pretenders, Metric, and Tegan and Sara, I would've never played Madonna. Now I have her entire '80s catalog.

I've always had a thing for girl bands, but more Suzi Quatro or The Runaways than Spice Girls or TLC.

Funny you should mention that. When I diverged off into female vocalists, it was with The Pretenders and The Runaways/Joan Jett on the rock side and Leslie Feist on the pop side. I've never been a fan of stuff like Spice Girls because that falls under the Top 40 stuff that's just boring to me. I genuinely love certain huge pop hits like The Cardigans' Lovefool, but that's also a band with a unique catalog. I prefer the more indie type stuff when it comes to pop, but even with normal pop, as long it sounds good and isn't boring, I usually like it.
That's another funny coincidence. I stopped in at my friend's store a couple days ago and he was playing that album.
