If anti-skate is applied with a spring, it doesn't matter. The forces involved will equalize wear in bearings. I am not talking about running tables at a 45 degree angle or anything like that.

OK guys now I'm really flummoxed! I had tested the TT after installing new AT cart for about 2 hours. Sounded really nice, cranked the volume to 1 o'clock on soft and hard passages, great sound, no background noise.

So after leveling it, I sat down for a listen and now if I get the volume past 10 o'clock, I get a huge hum. Not subsonic, sounds like about a 100htz hum. WTF? I'm sure the leveling was just a coincidence, but nothing else changed.

The signal cables might have a bad connection inside, when you moved the turntable you get that hum. Cables wear out if they are disconnected many times. Had a Technics SL-B3 back in the day that I was always moving around and developed a hum noise in cable.

Makke sure the connections at the back of the cartridge are good as well.

It does sound like you have lost the ground connection-so check that path. Moving the table around might have caused something to loosen. You mentioned how you verified connections to your receiver, but did not mention reconnecting the ground wire of the TT to the receiver.

Just wanted to follow up on the hum issue. The first response I got nailed it - loose cart wire solder connection. When had previously installed a new AT AT-VM95E cart, I recalled one wire bent a little too easily at the solder, I must have bent it one too many times. New wires put on today and now I can get wall shaking volume with zero hum. Thank you!

This Fisher TT sounds really nice w/ pioneer SX9000 driving a beautiful pair of CS 700Gs . And now it's level to boot!
