What's The Dumbest Thing You've Ever Done?

I enjoy all the posts so far.

Just a couple:

The old addage goes, "if you only knew then what you know now".

With that said, at about 9 years of age, I also had a hot chassis AA5 radio I knew nothing about. Had it out and on top of its cabinet and decided to go take a shower. Immediately after that with hair still wet, I went back to it and touched it and got the shock of my life. The plug was probably turned the wrong way in the socket. :yikes:

A few years later, found one of those GE tube amps that use the push pull 7355 tubes that gets mentioned here often and it had a horrible hum through both channels. Thinking it had bad output transformers, I measured them with an ohm meter and they were not exactly the same from center tap to each plate, so I threw them away. :wtf:

When I was 18 I sold a original,1971 442 Cutlass Hurst Olds with a 455 because it had a bad transmission, that same year I went on a date with a chick I met on my CB radio in Cleveland Ohio, she wasn't exactly pretty she had summer teeth, some were on that side and some were on the other side

Hahahahaha!

Gigantic wrote 'Now, I'm 6'8" (203cm to you euros) and at the time, weighed about 260 pounds'

And I'll bet your nickname is or was 'Tiny'.

Reminds me of the old biker "B" movies from the 60' & 70's. Whenever a gang leader said to go get "tiny", it was time to hop on the bikes and clear out fast.

It's a miracle any of us are still alive. Dumb thing number one from my youth: My friends and I had ditched school (as usual) driving around in my 1960 TBird. As I rounded a corner on the main drag I gunned it in a puddle of water. Of course the rear end came around and I made an Immediate right turn into the gas station on the corner. Still going full speed I managed to correct and drove right past the pumps and the astonished attendant, turned left back onto the road and proceeded as if I meant to do that. If my luck had run out I would have created a massive fireball and incinerated myself, my friends, the gas station attendant and any other customers. Did I learn my lesson? Are any lessons learned at the age of 17?

Recent blunder (audio related): I picked up a Pioneer PL-50. The tone arm was bunged so I decided to disassemble it to lube and adjust the bearings. Out came about 50 miniscule ball bearings. I'm sure Pioneer used special tooling to assemble these things. There is no way to put the bearings back in the tone arm without special tools. Back in the box it went. I'll probably eventually part it out.

Oh wait I got 1 more now this was dumb ,in 1982 I had a pinto with a 302 in it ,one Friday night in Middleburg hts ohio my buddy in his 72 mach 1 429 pulled up next to me at a light, so me thinking I could beat him in my pinto I egged him on, so we took off when the light turned green and I didn't even realize it at the time we drag raced right past the police station, and there was a cop car coming out of the station right at that moment and guess what car they caught you guessed it the slower one me, I only had my license for 3 weeks instant 4 points on my license
