What's the Modern Purpose of Reel-To-Reel??

Hello,
This is one use of a tape recorder. I know it's hard to see, but this is a photo of me using my portable tape deck to record some early Spring sounds near the Delaware coast. I hung the microphone up high on the lattice work and used one of my socks to block the slight wind noise. My wife, who took the shot, is a landscape painter, so while she paints I try and capture the sounds of nature. A lot of fun!
