What's the most expensive part in your system?

similost

Rockin and Rollin....
Curious as to what people place the most value on part wise..... Amps? TT? Speakers?

You don't have to post what you paid, just post what you paid the most for.. unless you really want to give a price..

For me, it is by far my Barziwaves... and if I wasn't using them, it would be my 4675a JBL's, which ironically, only ran me about $100 more than my Barzi's did...

My Turntable was the most expensive in mine.

It think it was about a tie between the plasma TV (purchased some years ago when they weren't almost free ;)) and the now-sidelined (upgraded to HDMI, etc.) Anthem AVM 20 pre/pro.

I'm probably one of the cheapies here. My most expensive component is a Sansui G9000DB that I bought new in 1978 for ~$550 at the PX in Germany. I guess you could say that I got my money's worth out of it.

Turntable based on purchase price and current market values. by a factor of about 2. Next would be my Cartridge

Pro-Ject RM-5 Turntable ...... Goldring Eronica H cartridge.

Once I ever get off my ass, my Stromburg amp rebuild will probably end up being my most expensive pieces.. especially with the cost of two quads of KT88 adding to it..

You sure could get a pretty penny on the 9000 now Pat...

And yeah.. I guess my Aquos TV would be my most expensive, but I don't really consider that part of my stereo :D

BTW, I've never bought a Phono Cartridge since probably around 1980... all I have bought has been styluses..

The 3 Acurus A200 power amps used to push my Magnapan MGIIIa's. :^)

Regards,
Jim

If it has to be limited to a single item of stereo gear then it would be the Levinson No. 23 power amp.

PIONEER PRO-111 FD plasma $1947 w/tax (new) in 2010.
(Getting another PRO-111 (used) at the end of this month $1000)

SPEC-2 $600 in 1998 +$300 rebuild in 2002= $900

4-Mach Twos in 1986 $645 w/tax during Rat Shacks annual 50% off sale

I paid the most for the Yamaha NS-1000M's, but I have no idea what component had the highest MSRP in my system(s), especially if inflation is taken into consideration.

Those are my most expensive pieces to date and I haven't had to retube yet. It's followed closely by my tt set up.
Just exactly when are you going to "get off your ass" and rebuild those strombergs?

Inflation and MSRP don't count in this one, IMO. What you paid is what you paid - at least that's what I understand the question to be.

Well, new price...my amp would win by decent margin. As far as what I paid, it's pretty balanced between my amp (Levinson 432) , turntable (VPI Classic w/Benz Micro Glider), and speakers (Quad ESL-63 monitors w/Gradient Subs). Nothing really outclasses anything else and it all works well together.
