What's the weirdest factory mistake you've found?

This one had me scratching my head. I just finished restoring a Luxman L-100 and I noticed the bass was being cut when I engaged the tone section. I could even it out by turning the bass up to about 3-4 o'clock. I messed around for almost 2 hours trying to figure out what could be causing this. I checked my work over multiple times. I observed the problem on the scope. I found the bass control was a log pot when it should be a linear pot. Meaning the halfway point was at 3-4 o'clock. At this point it was well past my bed time so I called it here. In the morning I remembered another thing. The volume control was very sensitive. Even with the attenuator all the way down, the first notch was almost normal listening levels. I decided to check if this was a linear pot. And it was! (and it was the same value as the bass pot) And although this unit appeared to have been worked on before (someone soldered all the molex connectors), the soldering on these pots appeared to be factory. So someone at the factory mixed up the bass and volume pots? I switched them back and now have a properly functioning bass control, and a properly functioning volume control. This also shows the importance of sleeping on a problem. It wasn't until the next morning I thought to check if the volume pot was correct. I'm kind of impressed I caught this. So, what is the weirdest factory mistake you've found?

The most infamous one I have come across is the Pioneer SX-1010 service manual that has you set the bias/idle current DOUBLE of what it should be... Pretty big mistake IMO on a popular model
