What's your latest audio purchase?

Just picked these up at a garage sale today for $80.

Pioneer SX-737 receiver
Pioneer PLA-45D turntable
Scott 6.2a speakers
Sonic III headphones

All near mint, just need a little cleaning. Not a major score, but I'm satisfied.

For those unfamiliar with a 2 way electronic crossover ( aka active crossover ) it is used between the preamp and two amps.

Two preamp outputs are connected to the e-crossover and it in turn sends it's output signals to two separate amps. This allows for division and fine tuning of the frequencies and the use of separate amps for the HF and LF

It results in true bi-amping as it replaces the speaker's passive crossovers which are no longer needed.

Unlike a passive crossover the signal frequencies are changed before they are amplified which can offer sonic advantages.

A friend who comes armed with a box of Cd's and records whenever comes over is turning 50yrs old, started old having a young family + studying fulltime, alas no money left over for life's pleasantries.

For his birthday I have just picked up a Yamaha AX596, Marantz CDC3000 (bought 2, one for him and one for me) and a pair of Yamaha NS100m. Only to stop him from trying to steal mine. I hope he will be happy with that.

Free cd rack from my dad, now holding my favourite cassette's
And a second hand but new €8 4 way audio switch, because the sg750 only has 1 input.

I just got myself a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50S, because I wanted a little nicer headphones for on the go and office listening. I still like my Grado S80i but pretty much the only place I can use those is my living room because there's so little isolation.

Pioneer SE20A headphones :D
€ 15, it only has 1 little blue pen mark or something on it that ill have to clean.

1935 Fada tube radio "1462"

I intended to start a Fada thread but I think this (US) brand is probably of minor interest.

After 5 months with no amp, I broke down and bought some BPC from Craigslist. Sony STR DG720. Sounds decent when cranked, but otherwise sounds pretty bad. I'm hoping I can sell it again when my real amp gets fixed!

Think again. FADA made some really interesting radios. :thmbsp:

I love my 970.

There's a lot of old radio fans over on videokarma.org
