Hi,

US Recording Media is a reliable supplier. I would use RMGI LPR 35 on your Teac or RMGI SM 911. ATR Tape is overkill on a consumer open reel recorder and has no advantage on a Teac except for overload margin.

hi

tha atr tape is really good, have already 4 tapes here and I really enjoy working with them. The sound is :tresbon:

the rmgi tapes are also good but be aware of the ones that have to much tape residu on the heads and tape mechanism.

I used the atr tape on my revox b77 and it really is heaven on earth :-)
Adjusments on the revox: none, just put the atr tape on and you're of.

Hi,

The ReVox A/B 77 machines can be biased for ATR tape whereas the Teac the OP has can't be. This tape is intended for machines like 3M M79, Studers of varying kinds, ATR 100's, MCI, Sony APR 5000, Otaris and the like. This is formulated for professional studio recording/mastering work at 15 or 30 IPS. That was the point intended. The bias oscillators on many older tape machines can't cope with really high bias, ultra high output tapes.

If you have a TEAC, I HIGHLY recomend the LPR 35. Stay away from the SM900 as it sheeds REALY BAD on the TEAC. I have several 10.5" rools of SM900 that I cannot use... The LPR 35 is GREAT.

Hi,

LPR 35 is superb on older A series Teac decks and requires no bias adjustment to sound excellent. Fine, consistent quality tape which is superb on most any good tape deck.

Just an FYI, LPR35 is a thinner tape then SM468 which means you will have longer recording times but your tape will probably not last as long as it is prone to stretching and will wear out quicker with repeated plays. It is also more likely to have print through problems.
