I found a couple of used Carts a Shure V15 type iv with a broken diamond (it will need an new stylus) and a
ADC XLM mkII Improved Phono Cartridge in perfect shape both are about 100$ but the Shure is 25$ less.

I would like to have one of these as alternatives to my Signet TK7e that I use in my Sansui SR-929

I've own my Type IV since new. I have a JICO SAS and a lesser JICO stylus for it and it still gets time in my rotation and I still enjoy it. Shures have a house sound you may like. I'm not a big fan of ADC personally.

Unlike Lorenzo47... I like em both and different variants of each. The XLM was near the TOTL for ADC same with the type IV. Replacement stylus are relative easy to obtain. I find the ADC just a tad brighter than a IV and provides a bit more clarity. I guess in some circles that a minus and a plus.
 
The M97xE is smooth but, in my opinion, on the dull side. Not so for the V15 type 4 with Jico VN45HE. Detailed, warm and present is how I would describe it.
 
I might go for the Shure at 75$ ( no stylus) I think it's a bargain ... I Only hear great things about it. But I'm not sure because the ADC is still very well liked - the only thing that worries me, is if it will be too bright for me.....ill keep you posted
 
yeah I bought the Shure V15 ( 50$) now ill look for a stylus any suggestions ? will a 97xe stylus fit??
 
So I found a guy that will fabricate a wood body for the type4. I'll post pictures when I get more info on delivery.
I'm still looking for a stylus almost settled on a jico. This with a Shure v15 type3 he says the 3 and 4 are different in shape and size, too bad.

I have an ADC XLM ll and it is the 'brightest' cart I own, but it is an extremely accurate info extractor, so once you get used to the 'brightness', it is very pleasing to listen to. Tracks at a low VTF, mine is at 0.6g! Can't speak for the Shure, other than to say generally the V15lll is considered better than the V15lV, but the ADC is impressive. I prefer my Denon DL103 and Grace F8C though, but it's pretty close.:thumbsup:

The VividLine seems to be way underrated.
I have a N97VL and it blows away the stock Shure N97xE. I use it on a M35x body with a potted aluminum paradox pulse shell.

Very nice combo!!!

Yes, I think they're the nicest styli available for the Shures right now. Great pricing too. I just wish they also made shibata styli for my Empire 4000 D/I. As is I have to order from Jico and that works out to a bit over $200 a stylus posted from Japan. Still good value though ;)
 
I bought a 4000dI vividline but they never restocked it, they do still have DII & DIII's in stock which I'm sure are the same styli. Vivid sound real nice in Empires.
