which JBL or Infinity bookshelf for dynamic rock?

Okay I now understand that the definition of the genre 'Prog Rock' is way more elusive than 'bookshelf loudspeaker'.

:lurk: did some digging.

I was considering a very limited sub-category or three. 70s Synth/Space Rock/Symphonic/Hard Prog/Avant-Garde Prog Metal.

Seems there's much much more than the Wiki 'short list' of King Crimson, YES, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Soft Machine, ELP.

I can see Alan Parsons' TOMAA or Tangerine Dream on my KLH20's but the dynamics & complexity of some of my faves here are beyond bookshelf...but YMMV. I've had 7 sets of +100lb speakers and can say that none of the bookshelf(ish) sets do the low tones on MARS from Isao Tomita's (Holst) THE PLANETS justice... or ITCOTCK or The Lamb.

Advents can rock the house.

You need to come by for a listen....

I assume you are talking about "ewaved" Advents Zilch. just catching up on that thread...very interesting indeed. and yes, I'd love to stop by for a listen. Berkeley isn't too far. :-)

I can't remember if you stopped by my house after the SVAF but my speakers are built on the same principles as the eWaves.

sadly no but heard all of the accolades. I think you posted a pic here somewhere once. can you point me to that thread?

i have a set of infinity cs3006's. they are a 3-way with an 8"woofer, 5"poly mid and the emit-r tweater.

they are a book shelf size at
21.75" tall
12.5" deep
10.5" wide
there rear ported and are bi-ampable.

imo, they are a great speaker for rather loud "jamming" and sound very good at both low and high volumes. i run them bi-amped and they seem to like the power i give them.

they can be found on the real cheap needing new foam and can be found in the $100-$175 range in mint.

I have to very much third the 4313 just picked up a set minutes ago and I am floored they are *very* dynamic and detailed without being harsh, if they are good enough for recording studios...

Zilch now you've got me collecting JBLs for which I am

glad. :)
