Which sansui can sound superior to 907x ?

Hi folks.
Im back with an update. The sansui 907x has been revamped . The capacitors , transistors and switches . But the sound is already superb . It is beating the kenwood 600 supreme in soundstage and separation and clarity .
The owner has remarked that he cannot recall any amp (and he owns dozens of well regarded integrateds) that can top this performance of the sansui 907x .

I was wondering which amp could however get better performance than this . U may also name any other brand amp ( not just sansui) .

Guess the other half of my setup is fairly constant from 5 years so i need to feed my OCD , only a different amp name would do.
Lolz.
Me and my pals here usually keep the amp thing rolling . Rest of the system is constant for us .

The amp is not the be-all/end-all of the hi fi system- the sound you're hearing is coming out of your speakers, and how you have them placed in the size & acoustics of your listening room. A great amp + mediocre speakers = mediocre sound. So, if you think you need to keep trying to improve the sound quality, you're more likely to hear a difference with changing speakers, rather than another hi end Sansui amp. Even a $20 remastered CD vs the original can make it sound like blankets were removed from the speakers, vs the typical notion that just changing amps can do that.

+1 to the above the statement !
The ratio to a sound system budget “should” be 60% speakers 40% amp
Sub budget should be made for
frond-end/room treatment .

Edit : To answer your question .
Get an AU-X11 and prepare a fairly good budget for the restoration . You might not look back again .
I haven’t heard the 907x so take the above with a grain of salt.

If you want to find better not different switch to major leagues, Ayre, Hegel, Pass, Spectral, Krell, VTL, Audio Research.....and best of the best D'Agostino and Lamm. Vintage amps are a sideways move. Calculate the price difference and see is it worth it to you (and your pals).

If I read your first post properly, it isn't about you or what Sansui's YOU have.
It's about a friend with a Kenwood and the Sansui 907X.

I have a 907X-Decade (unrestored)
List of Sansui amps that sound better imo (in no particular order)
AU-G99X
AU-X1
AU-X11
AU-a907
C-2301/B-2301

If you and your listening buddies are wanting to keep the other components in the system constant, and you've been through the 907X and that list of Sansui's you might consider an AU-07 Anniversary, AU-a907Limited or C-2301/B-2301 if you want to stick with Sansui and turn the fidelity dial to 11.

Yes my tech was never into sansuis . But once restored he got to like and keep the sansui 907F , then 8080db, then 607x and now 907x.
Now all he can say is wow words for this product

Alpha amps are different .
And they should be better . Sansui made alphas in her last decade of production days. But my alphas are all original. I mean old inside . Should they be restored whats the likelihood of aux111 mos vintage and iMos limited and 999dg topping the x balanced 907x.?????

Different for sure. But better really comes down to the listener's preferences. Those Alpha's should deliver greater fidelity, finesse and athleticism. If that was my quiver, I'd really be wanting to get that AU-X111 MOS back on the road. Amazing machine!

If someone was blindfolded and a spoon was put in their mouth to eat a sampling of various foods, or the same with
beverages, I imagine someone could distinguish the taste between water and milk, or mayo vs mustard, but I have to wonder
if the same can consistently be done with the perceived sound of their favorite Sansui amps....

Pretty sure I can hear the differences when I change amps. What occasionally surprises me is that my first impression of a change in amplifier is sometimes negative but then changes to positive - doesn't sound as good at first. But after a little longer listening time the change grows on me and becomes pleasant. I've wondered about this, and if it is some kind of auditory cortex conditioning that somehow communicates a negative impression to the rest of the brain when it registers a change. Or maybe the initial negative reaction is further up the chain and a response in the cerebral cortex or frontal lobes.

To be sure, for the sake of accuracy, have a 2nd person assist while you're blindfolded and randomly change the amps while playing the same song at the same volume level, and then pick the Sansui amps you think you're listening to and see what the results are.

I can hear the changes between my Sansui's immediately, I developed sound memory, sort of a mental reference. Years of experience and using only neutral and uncolored speakers at home can help develop that. Something like we know immediately when we hear live acoustic music, we know it's live.

We need a psycho- acoustico neurologist dude here

This was key for me, too. I ended up with a sensitive speaker that relies mainly on a full range driver and no electronics - Sansui copper out directly to the FRD. Super honest.
