Which stylus for beat-up 45s?

Perusing the Bargain Bins
Hi folks. Which of these styli would be best for playing old beat up 45s? (Just bought 30 at StVdP.) Don't want to damage the cantiliver, stylus or the records.

Fisher/Sanyo MG-10J cart with Pfanstiehl 712-D7 stylus (0.7 conical)
Audio-Technica AT3600 cart with unknown generic stylus (0.6 conical)
ADC QLM 32 MKIII cart with ADC RSQ32 stylus (0.4 x0.7 elliptical)
Shure M70EJ cart with Pfanstiehl 768-DE stylus (0.4 x 0.7 elliptical)
Audio-Technica AT12XE cart with AT ATN12XE stylus (0.3 x 0.7 elliptical)

I also have a Grado gold, Audio-Technica shibata, and a Signet fine elliptical, but I don't want to risk damaging those.

Get yourself an ADC K8 stylus from that auction site as ADC made a ton of those styluses.......
It will be better and work best for your 45's
 
Definitely something with a conical is best for vintage mono 45s. My #1 preference is a Shure M44-7.

So what rekkids did you find??

The Fisher. It is cheap and durable, sounds ok, and conical is most forgiving/suited to old bargain bin 45s. For whatever reason, replacement needles are cheap and plentiful.
 
That and "Fried Green Tomatos", loved the movie and the motorcycle trip visit to Juliette after it came out. Someone should recussitate that mill power plant and put it back on line BTW.

Back on topic; I call them "comicals" cuz I find it curious that some folk find these ball-tip mono/45 RPM stylii preferable for playing Stereo LPs over tip types specifially designed to trace stereo LPs.
mrhardy, love the "blooming Lily" EM80 in your avatar. Repaired a pile of radios that used them.
 
Best for vintage 45 singles:

Stanton 680 or 681 A conical (AL heavy duty for the really rough records)
Shure M 44-7
Stanton 500 A (same AL stylus for rough records)

All commonly used in broadcasting applications and in clubs. I use the Stanton 681 A and AL for my 45 playing and mono through middle 1960's LP discs. I also have the EEE-S II Stereohedron for my best records.

Hi again folks. I DO appreciate when people recommend a cartridge/stylus combination other than the ones I own. But, I was really asking which of the one I already HAVE would work best. Not sure I am going to keep buying 45s. So, don't want to invest more money just to hear how these 30 sound. Consensus seems to be the widest conical. Thanks all. Any other thoughts continue to be welcomed. Cheers. David

You misinterpreted my post. I was just responding to the question; I would also recommend a conical stylus for beat up 45s. It wasn't a response to the previous post.

BTW, I am a big Tom Lehrer fan... he went to school at Harvard, but spent his career at UC Santa Cruz as far as I know.

The AT 3600 should get you good playbacks. Once you get hooked, get a genuine stylus for it (they're cheap). It's an amazingly good budget cartridge which is still in production. The Sanyo is also still available and there's a good conical for that. Use your AT 3600 in my opinion.
