Which transistor should I use and varialble resistor

I need replacement transistors for a Sansui G-7000.

Which ones should I use? The originals are 2SB681 and 2SD551.

MJ15025 / 15023
or
MJ21193 / 21193
or
MJ21195 / 21196

Also there are only MJ2119xG's available. The NON G's are obsolete. Does that matter?

They blew out by a failed variable bias resistor VR05. This resistor is rated 220ohms and sees a max of about 55 volt. What replacement can I use? And can a 1/2 watt range handle it?
