Which tubes to get from Russia?

So, if you had the opportunity to get tubes from Russia, what would they be and why? For example, I own an HH Scott 222D which uses 7189 outputs and I would buy a stash of Russian 6P14P. What's your choice and why?

I got the chance to pick some 6P14P-ER with gold pins on ebay, don't found them available anymore.

You can go for 6P14P-ER with steel pins BUT , the heaters draws little more current compared to standard 6BQ5 EL84 6P14P-EV etc.

In the order of approx. 0.800A instead of 0.760A if i remember correctly, so your power transformer may heat a little bit more.

If you are too much concerned by heat, stick with 6P14P-EV, or Sovtek EL84M

Lifespan:
6P14P-EB (6P14P-EV) >5000hrs
6P14P-EP (6P14P-ER) >10000hrs

I am running a quad of 6P14P-EV(6П14П-ЕВ) reflectors in my Fisher X-100, I think they are also sold as EL84M. I've read that the 6P14P is an acceptable sub for the 6BQ5(EL84) but not for the 7189 as mroboto stated.

Buy the Sovtek EL84M. They are 6П14П-ЕВs from the same Saratov factory that made the old military stocks. You will not be disappointed. The regular 6П14П has standard EL84 ratings and isn't a substitute for the 7189.

Any tube? The EH 6CA7s are quite good. The Winged C SED EL34s were very good, now out of production. The 6H23p-EB, a 6DJ8 equivalent, is said to be very good. The Sovtek 12AX7LPS is liked by many.

And then pretty much the entire Genalex KT-series power tubes are very good, some say better than the NOS originals they are copying. The KT66, KT77, and KT88.

Tung-sol KT120 & KT150, praised by many high end amplifier manufacturers.

If you are replacing 7189s go with the 6P14P-EV. The 6P14P will not handle as high plate voltage that some amps using 7189s run at. My Fisher X202 runs 7189s at 390 Volts to the plates. Standard EL84 types wont survive long running that hot. I picked up a quad of the 6P14P-EV and they sound great. No problems.

These are NEW TUBES not Old Stock. These are from personal experience and in use in my gear right now.

6V6...........Tungsol 6V6 Re-Issues.
12ax7's.......Tung-Sol Re-Issues or Sovtek LPS's (LPS's in phono section....very quiet) EH12ax7.
7591a..........In order Tung-Sol ReIssues, and EH7591a's if room is not a problem. Stay away from JJ 7591's. JUNK!
7868's.........EH7868, even tho the pins are slightly larger in diameter.
6bq5/7189.....6P14P-EP (6n14n-EV) or SOVTEK EL-84M for all units using a EL-84 type. Used as a 6bq5 it loafs along and will last very long time.
6L6.............Tung-Sol Re-Issues. Very good sounding tube.

5AR4/GZ34....Tung-Sol or Genelex Gold Lion for Integrated, power amps, receivers. Sovtek for preamps or tuners.
