Needing to thin the heard. Going to keep the PL-L1000 for the main system. Setting up a 2nd system in the den. Pioneer PL-530 just restored. Thorens 126 MK III or VPI HW-19 Junior. Which would you keep?

All nice tables, but the 1st table I would sell is the Thorens because of the DC motor. (hard to find)

What a nice choice to have!

I would sell the Pioneer pl530 and possibly the Thorens as they would bring the largest monetary return.

That's the problem. I like them all, for various reasons.

I really really need to offload excess equipment. But that's my biggest impediment, I like each and every piece for various reasons. Not just turntables..... speakers, amps, cars, books, etc, etc.

VPI. The 126 is good, but the III can be a nightmare if it breaks down. The Junior is relatively simple, and has an upgrade path.

It's OK. You're among friends. You can say it- "I'm a hoarder". See, now, that wasn't so hard was it? You've just taken your first step towards acceptance. It will all be much easier now.

I used to use and collect a lot of hand planes. When faced with a decision about which to keep and which to sell, it seemed logical to sell the one that would fetch the highest price. Some names are just more popular and bring a higher price even if there's not a real performance advantage. Don't know if that helps any, but its all I got! ;)

I went through a similar process and decided that due to my skill level, selling price and time (for upkeep/repairs), I sold off the more complicated tables (DD, sadly) and those with value. I stream more these days so, simplicity worked best for me. I do miss an auto return.

It already has the MK III platter. And a Denon 103. Haven't heard it yet, still working setting up my den. Should be done later today.

Yep. The 530 is that. The 126 has end of play lift. There are several lifts I could get for the Jr. Some very reasonable.

Tough choices! I would keep the VPI, parts (I think) are accessible. You already have the bigger Pioneer and people love the 530, so that should be on the chopping block.

As for the Thorens, that is an even tougher choice. But, I would still keep the VPI.

Keep the one with the "best" tonearm.
And by "best" I mean the tonearm that's the best match for whatever cartridge you want to use now and in the future.

Well the VPI has a Audioquest arm & Denon 103 cart. I'll probably have things arranged with a MC amp to night to plug it up and give a listen. I've been running my 530 with the $20 amazon cart that was the resent topic. Not unpleased at all with that.
