Which vintage headphones would you buy?

Stax are nice but expensive, I would get Fostex T20RP Version 2 which are orthodynamics and better than the new versions, but even those are hard to get!

The T-20 (non "RP" marked) version 2 isn't even close to being vintage but they are great. I guess I'm lucky that my recording tech class has about 12 pairs these. I was able to trade my newer T-50RP for a pair of the T-20.

When I do vintage, if I am listening to a pioneer product I use a set of Se-30, or Se-50's. On my Kenwood setups I use Kh-50's. If I were you I would go with a vintage Marantz product.

I would love a pair of Kenwood KH-71 phones. I had one I bought new at the Subic Exchange way back about 1974. I had them for about fifteen years and would still have them had my kids new puppy not chewed them up. Of course none of the kids would own up to leaving them on the floor. I kept them in a drawer and I know that puppy didn't open that drawer and take the headphones out.

They sounded good and were exceptionally comfortable.

I do own a vintage Fostex T-10 original model. I like them a lot - better than my much newer Sennheiser and Sony phones. Those are fine but don't do it for these old ears like the Fostex.

Had a pair of Audio-Technica headphones from the late '70s/early '80s era. Not sure exactly when I bought them (new) but it was definitely after 1978 and before 1985.

They were "Electret Condenser" but I do not recall the number. They were at or near the AT TOTL.

I remember they were open-air; extremely light and comfortable, I could kick back and listen for hours without the slightest discomfort.
