Bottlehead Crack, with BeyerDynamic DT880 600 ohm.

Currently running a Mullard 12AU7 (NOS) and Chatham/Tung-Sol 5998. So far this is my favorite set up.

I have the following tubes on hand,

Power;

GE 6AS7G
Cetron 7236
Mullard 6080
RCA 6080

Input; (All 12AU7 & 12AU7A)

ElectroHarmonix short, grey plate
RCA Cleartop (NOS)
Raytheon Long, Black Plate
Sylvania Short, Grey plate

Mystery Brand (RCA?) Long, Black Plate, "D" getter

I do. Am using a Crack -w- Speedball to drive Beyer T70s now. Driver tube is a G.E. made in Holland E80CC. Power tube is an Amperex 6AS7G.
 
Decware CSP2 > Beyerdynamic DT880/600. Mullard CV2493 driver tubes and an OLD RCA rectifier (can't remember what it is).
 
Leben CS-300xs driving Audio Technica ATH-A700. Though just as often I'm using a solid state device, the Apogee Duet II.

I have as yet to do the Speedball upgrade. I understand you can run 12BH7s with that. Have you tried it yet?

Nice. How do you like the Senns? I've been thinking about upgrading cans. (Some day.) Looking for something with a little more bottom end than the Beyers.

I really like the 600s - very balanced, natural and open sounding, never seem to get aggressive or fatiguing which is what I was after; a comfortable pair to shut-out the world and relax with, even with digital sources.

Some might find them a little light in the bass but this can be a touch system dependent - I prefer them with the MG head in transformer-coupled single-ended/no NFB mode which does hurt bass a little but I like what they do in the mids and highs this way. I bet they would be better bass players with a decent SS amp but I haven't tried many - the ASL just does it for me.

I'm considering one of those Ebay 12ax7 headphone amps (or whatever is the chinese designation for that tube, 6n11?).

I'm also considering a portable tube amp vs a cmoy for portable listenings with my Clip+
 
Not straight tubes, but it works nicely.

Cary Audio pre-amp/Amperex 6DJ8/ECC88, Bugle Boy > Pro-ject Head Box II > Grado RS-2i.
 
After hearing how good my IEM's and headphones can sound with an amp I could never go back to listening without some sort of amplification - tubes or SS. In my home office I use a Little Dot mkIII tube amp with my AKG 601's, and Monster Turbine Copper Pro's or Miles Davis Tributes. When I'm on the go I use a portable ALO Rx solid state amp. There are major differences between tube and SS - mainly the mellowness of tubes, while SS is more upfront. I prefer to use the ALO for when I'm in a rock mood, and the Little Dot mkIII for when late night internet surfing sessions. :music: But aside from the obvious increase in power, the sonic improvement over just a "headphone jack" is pretty obvious and clear. It's kinda like crack cocaine - once you try it you just can't go back without it! :smoke:

Little Dot MKIII. Trying some tube rolling. Have russian driver tubes in now and am going to swap in some Mullard 8001s later.

I used to run a LD Mk III into AKG 702's. But I couldn't pass up an opportunity to upgrade to a McCormack Micro Headphone Drive, so the LD had to be moved along.
