Who is still using tapes ??

I have a few luxman cassette decks that I use. One in the main system and one that sits idle for backup. I rarely do listen to my player but I do have cassettes that I have not been able to replace on vinyl or cd yet so untill I can then I might give up my players.

Reel to Reel: Several Akais, Teacs, Sonys and Pioneers. Also Otari, JVC and Technics.

Cassette Decks: Several Nakamichis, Pioneers, Sonys, Denons. Also, Yamaha, Onkyo, Tascam.
8 Track: Panasonic, Sony, Magnavox.

ElCasette: Sony

Tapes are cool...

Just bought a Sony TC-RX606ES, Denon DR-M3 and DRM-710 and a Technics RS-M240 and M11B. Also picked up about 100 metal tapes and 150 Cr02's. The sounds these things make are pretty awesome sans the hiss.

I have a few RTR decks, and very much enjoy listening to them!

Four 3 head stereo cassette decks are in my house, 3 are Nakamichi and I don't know what to do with them. I have paid a few dollars for them in GoodWill. I would like to know if some of you guys still have some cassette deck hooked up to your system ??
Thanks.

I only keep some absolute mint Sony TC-204SD, TC-209SD and a TC-K8B tapedecks as to complete a hifi set (stack) with tuners and amplifiers from same year/series. But using them? Not really, just decoration. But they look goooood. Probably some R2R units will be added in the same fashion.

I have quite a few cassette decks and use tapes quite frequently since I have an abundance of vintage chrome cassettes for the taping. I know plenty of people will balk at this comment, but I absolutely love that format.

Me too...my Denon double cassette gets plenty of use...particularly since I had a lucky run of finding good prerecorded jazz cassettes for as little as a dime:)

I was around 15 in the 70-80s so I have a considerable collection of cassette tapes, that's why I still have some decks like the Teac V-900, Technics RSM226, etc.

The fact is that the tapes that were recorded in 1981 sound perfect, they are for example TDK SA, AD, Pioneer N1. And I have played them many times over these years. There was always a rule to consider : play from the beginning to the end without stoping the tape.

Nakamichi 700ZXE in the main system. It gets more play than the digital media and less than vinyl in the system. Just bought about 100 CRO2 and Hi Bias factory tapes lasat weekend, mostly smooth jazz. No hiss from those babies. I'm excited to be able to find the time to make my own tapes and service my R to R's and other cassette decks like my Pioneer 1250 so I can use them all. Fidelity is fantastic with the Nak. I'm sure all you tape fans are aware that the National Historic Archives stores most/all(?) media on tape because of how well it perserves the material recorded on it. Tape is good for a long time.

I love cassettes and still listen to them from time to time. Tonight, for example, I am listening to the XDR version of DSOTM on my Sony TC-K5. Not a high-end unit, but solid and it has a good sound. I purchased it a while ago at GW for $7.99 in perfect cosmetic and working condition! :music:

(not my photo - my unit has the wood end panels)

My Sony TC-C5 5 Cassette Changer unit still sees use, too. I especially like this unit for its full-function IR remote control.

Use tapes regularly... A4010GSL and A4010S R2R's, CTF-1250 and Denon cassette decks. Also have an old National RS-255S portable cassette deck I'm doing the 2nd refurb on ( bought it in '68 or '69... refurbed it the first time in late '80, just completing it again, working 100% but still a few cosmetic issues to remedy )

I have a Nakamichi CR1A and a Yamaha KX 500u in regular use. Yard sale cassettes are just too damn cheap for me to abandon the format.
