Ok guys, how does this sound for a plan. I see there are a lot of people interested in this, way more than you need for one band. So how about we all work with fred on this one song to get our feet wet and then we split into a couple groups. I was thinking of having a band with 6 or so people and then fred could grab a few or you cold all make groups.

How does that sound?

We can work out details, but one of the reasons I even thought of Stormy Monday is 'cause it could easily employ a bunch of people- for instance:

Drums
Bass
Rhythm electric
Intro solo electric
Main solo electric
Trombone (or other horn)
Sax (or other horn, or harmonica)
Vocal

There can also be multiple versions if we have more than one set of capable vocalists/soloists.

If I can dig up a track of me playing drums on "Keep Your Hands To Yourself", that can start another one as well...usually I play guitar &/or sing on that one, though, I'm sure I have dozens of versions of that with other drummers playing.

Sounds pretty good to me. I checked out the Stormy Monday and it is a nice rendition. I am sure though that we will need a few more songs with a faster tempo as well.

Yep, it can be a start for the blues-based and female singers mentioned so far in the thread. I'll start another thread in this section (how 'bout something called "Karma Initiative"?), and we can focus on this tune there.

I do want to make sure that this doesn't distract from X-25's original intent to start with a cover tune with him playing drums on it, and then evolve into collaborating with select forum members on an original. I'll also share the raw Stormy Monday tracks along the way with X (and whoever else joins up in the cause), in case he wants to take a swing at mixing them himself.

I think the best first step is opening up a couple of DropBox accounts (or similar) for file sharing. I think I have one of the freebies set up already, I'll check into it or start a new one & we'll see who wants to be invited in. X, I'd suggest you do the same, and we'll try to get this party started for you.

Sounds good fred. I will get some stuff going tomorrow evening (it's late and I have work).

Acoustic, JonL and Bob. You guys still want in on this?

I do, but time may be an issue for me. I'll see what I can do.

That is another reason I am doing it this way. I am very short on time. And this way we can work on it when we get a few minutes to make a recording.

I still do, I should have all the equipment to do my part. :thmbsp: I was thinking of songs also... one I came up with is "Shouldn't Have Took More Than You Gave". Perhaps like the jam version from Live at the Canteen... for the different soloing that could extend the song. Just a thought. Time wouldn't be an issue for me... just to say.

Volunteering my services as virtual roadie. Let me know if there's some grunt work to do. Every band needs a roadie.:tresbon: Maybe I can "tote some amps".

Yes, Tanya and I are still in as well. I will be checking the box for Stormy Monday tonite and should get started over the weekend. We will be available for other songs as well. Glad you came up with thiss idea. You never know, if it works out well enough we could put out our own AK cd. s

PS. Kevin, my bass rig with the two 4x15" cab needs to be pulled out of storage :D

Hey dude didn't I play with you in the seventies :D

I've been a frontman in emotive hardcore and post-hardcore bands for the last five years, recorded an EP, etc. so if you need screaming vocals of virtually any variety, I'd be down for recording some stuff. I'm not sure what style you guys are going for, but I can do anything from super deep metal growls, up to really dying-cat-esque high screams, plus that Every Time I Die-style southern yell.

I am interested in this as well. I play bass and have been in working bands over the years. Blues is my forte. I also have cubase and reaper and a small studio.

Whats the status on this? Is it still a go? where do I drop my bass track when I am done with it?

I play guitar (blues and classic rock) and have 24 track mix capabilities with Mackie Tracktion. I too would like to know the status of this project.

I'm a guitar player mainly, but have a bass and can play it pretty good. I can use my tascam us-122 to interface to my mac (I have cubase and garage band"
