Why are headshell wires thicker than tonearm wires?

My guess is that the head shell wires will be handled while installing carts, and they need to be a bit more robust to handle that, whereas wires in the tone arm are usually not handled much if at all. There's no electrical reason for the thinker head shell leads, however.
