Why are us "cable believers" made to defend our position so often?

I think the cable folks are made to defend themselves more often simply because there are way more threads about high end cables than cheap crappy cables. People who have cheap crappy cables don't really have much to talk about when it comes to cables. Can you imagine "The lamp chord VS coat hanger shoot out".

Hypocrisy at its finest. OK for you to chime in as the voice of experience, while assuming others with a different opinion have no experience.

Interesting how this thread morphed into a discussion largely about semantics and personalities, perhaps these are some of the immeasurable characteristics of cables?

Anybody here read any of the writings by Glen Phoenix on "PE Distortion"?

All that I'm saying is those who are forming opinions without any actual personal experience are missing out.

If someone has tried better cables and likes them, great. :thmbsp:

Likewise, if someone has tried better cables but experienced no worthwhile benefit, great. I have no beef with that! :thmbsp:

I have no problem with someone having a different opinion on this topic... provided they have TRIED it, rather than simply reading about it and perpetuating a belief without actually experiencing it.

I do not defend the above.

However I feel there is a perfectly rational reason for it. I believe it deals with the physical nature of a pair of cable compared to a SX-1980. Some people just cannot accept some of the price ratio.

To the latter I appeal: Please desist!...TOL is a COMFORT ZONE for cable fans!

Yes, I did on purpose because the justification thereof is immaterial. If "believers'" want their own thread without interlopers, so it should be for "skeptics" regardless of good intentions, or whatever.

Basically, the skeptics had the run of the place until TOL was created. All we got was flame wars.

Sorry, but using a partial quote of my thread to label me a hypocrite (and omitting the rest of the contextual information in the post which establishes my viewpoint) is not appreciated nor particularly fair.

To be honest, I for the most part think TOL has failed to create a safe place for subjectivists. Too bad. Life goes on.

If I want to discuss things of that nature, I go to other forums.
