"When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself."

Wayne Dyer

4-2-7 That's not directed at you, so please don't take offense. Actually it's not directed at anyone. What you said just reminded me of the quote. Thought I'd put it on here to give everyone a little moment of reflection.

If people want to think I'm crazy, foolish, ignorant, or blindly led because I believe that cables do make a difference in sound... that's ok with me. Do I agree that there is a big difference between a $100 cable and a 20k cable. I can't comment on that because I will most likely never find out.

I can appreciate people telling me that the world is round from their perspective... when at the same time I see the world as round from my perspective. What I don't appreciate is when people tell me that my thinking is the world is flat.

What's the old saying??? "Never criticize another man until you've walked a mile in his shoes."

Again 4-2-7... none of this is diirected at you. You just got my wheels turning.

"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing."

Helen Keller
No offense at all and pretty much what I was trying to say but much better.
It seems some people want to judge on petty things so I was only trying to point out what should be judged.

To me it's pretty simple. Spending a million for a set of speakers to some is like spending $19.99 to others. Another reason is priorities - a $1000/day crack cocaine addict coupon clipper saving 10 cents on an item comes to mind.

Point well made.

It's pretty easy to tell who has actually heard a well set up high end system, by reading the responses here.

I haven't, but the fact that they exist and others have bought them just doesn't cause me the consternation it does many here.

"The problem with quotes on the internet is you can never be certain they're authentic"

That just proves my government conspiracy theories. They've been hiding the internet technology from us for 150 years. :scratch2: :D

I guess I should reverse the question so I know your background. Have you spent any time in engineering labs?
Yes, lots of labs, analysis, and reports.

And what I learned is to get a set of baseline data, then change one variable, recollect data, then compare. If you did that with expensive power cables there's no way you would find a meaningful change in the output. But then that could be blamed on all the wiring between the expensive cable and the generator at power plant, on squirrels dancing on the wires, or maybe the witch doctor next door.

I know the real answer to the title of this thread.

Because the dealers won't accept payment in bagels.

Thanks, I'll be here all week.
