The M75 is a very good cartridge.

What is the tracking force you're using?
How old is the stylus?

Something is definitely not right with your set-up.

I just found the same turntable with also the originial M75 cartridge. Read that it's a great cartridge. Is it worth keeping instead of upgrading to something newer? The stylus on it seems to be the original also, so probably need to be replaced. Having trouble figuring out which model to get. If anybody has recommendations, i'd be glad to hear them.

The M 97xE is just fine in a Dual 1225 tonearm as long as it is set up correctly. This tonearm should be able to play well with one, even brush up if correctly setup and the Dual works correctly.
