Will you ever find the perfect system?

I probably do:

Sui 9090DB + AR 3a's

But I can't seem to stop trying to beat it. And I don't think I ever will

I have turned the big corner in the last couple of years. I have zero interest in anything but active systems. All my changes in the past years do not even register in comparison to the gains made by getting the crossover in front of amplification and having not componants between the amp and the speaker cone except wire.

So the answer is yes. For me active is the road to "my" perfect system.

I thought of a system a long time ago where frequencies generated by particular instruments would be seperated by a device and amplified individually. One speaker per instrument/player that would be placed about where the instrument/player would be in a live performance.
This would be my perfect system but as far as I know the technology doesn't exist to seperate the signals.
Short of that i'm still jazzed to have the system I do,and kept interested by a bit of anx to keep improving it.

Unfortunately it will never happen for me. Where was it that I read "it is not the result but the quest thereof that is the matter". I have found that with every addition the system has gotten better, and for me, I will always be experimenting, testing, exploring..... It sounds wonderful, do not get me wrong, but for me personally the knowing it can go a bit further is a perfection unto itself.

I am truly happy with the performance of my systems, BUT...I do love to try out gear, so there's always something that beckons to me. So, you never know what may find its way to my home.:D

Define perfect. Even if one has a setup as flat and clean as possible in an anechoic chamber, that does not mean it will sound good. Most people would find such a clinical playback to be crappy from a subjective standpoint.

Perfect = Works for me, :D

Mine's perfect for me and my friends-
It's all about how good your backup is!!

Whatever I have at any given moment is my perfect system! That is not to say I will not have even better at any given time in the future but my thinkin' is if it's good enough to have right now,it's my perfect system until something better becomes avaiable to me.....Rick....P/S I have several systems I consider to be relatively good already but will and I mean will always strive to attain better by any means available to me....

If I could find and afford a set of Altec Lansing VOTT speakers, I would have the perfect system (for me anyway).

AS it is I am settling for my current McIntosh XRT 20's..and they aint bad!

Finding the perfect speakers has always been the conundrum for me when it comes to the perfect system, even when listening to the likes of Revel Salons, B&W 801's, Klipsch Kornerhorns, Dahlquist DQ 10's etc. Some of the more vintage speakers seem to get me closer to "that sound " I seek than newer offerings, example Boston Acoustics T-1030s, Ess AMT 1 C's with the 12 inch woofers/ passives and the big Heil Tweeter on top, both of which I own and like, not perfect, but all have things I like and dislike about them, each in their own ways.

IMO speakers can make or break an otherwise perfect system when it comes to the synergy we desire to hear with our imperfect hearing and rooms.

I am hoping to keep my current setup and focus the extra money on music, and be less obsessive about the sound coming outta the spkrs.

The perfect system is one that makes you happy, and keeps you listening happily. :thmbsp:

I have found three or four.

My wife would prefer me to have one or two. :D
