Fisherdude, don't forget that we have a weak US dollar, which means foreign buyers can be seeing up to a 40% discount on the exchange rate. Lots of the stratospheric bidding is being conducted by deep pocket Asian buyers, who are gorging on historically low prices.
Exports will be selling high, and there also are a lot of mid high line gear that can be garnered for very reasonable prices. A volatile buyer's market can lead to many oddities.
