Words that were once common, now gone extinct

Even just the sound of it is something quite atrocious.
I agree and think that had something to do with it's popularity. It is atrocious sounding. Always thought so but didn't put it into words, just hung in the recesses as a feeling.

That was one of the lyrics of the song......

"If you say it loud enough you almost sound precocious"

When I was a kid they were bullets;
When I was in US Army they were rounds;
WHen I was back among the civies they were bullets (while I still used rounds);
Somewhere along the way - 90s ? -- they became ammo and I think that's where they still are.
They can still kill, whatever they're called. When you perforate a living thing with them, it usually dies.

I never read the lyrics just heard the word. No wonder I didn't like it, the whole song is atrocious. Ahh... Hollywood shite, nothing more nothing less. It is atrocious. :) Totally bohemian.

Dumb as a box of hammers

Sounds like a guy I once knew who walked around with fixed upward hunched shoulders, and a sloped forehead.

If you asked him a simple question he'd reply, "Gee I don't know?" And when you gave him the answer, he's slap his head and say, "I should have known that!"

A lame joke. I know. Another old descriptor not used much these days. :bigok:
