Working on an SX-1280

I tested the 1280 for a couple days in my system, it plays quite nice. Joel was happy with the sound for now, so we left the preamp boards alone.

I tested power output into 8 ohms, it made spot on 200WPC at 1 KHz. Big numbers for a receiver. It's very dynamic with my DQ-10s, plenty of power to keep the Dahlquists happy.

This beast is now home getting put through the paces. Like Jailtime said, it is really dynamic. It is a pleasent change from the Marantz sound. It will take some getting used to though. Not as neutral as the Yamaha I had but more detailed than my Marantz units. Thanks Jailtime.

That's Sweet to hear Joel, glad you enjoy the 1280, now if only I could get the bugs out of my 1280. My tech is having a VERY hard time with it. The strange thing is, it did not have any issues before I had it serviced, other than the protection relay engaging on cold turn on after a few minutes, then it would re-engage and be fine.

Good to hear that it's running well for ya, Joel. Are you running it with your EPIs?

Yes I am. I wanted to stick with that speaker since I'm used to there sound. Its easier to tell what the differences are between the receivers.
