What is it? It looks like half the board was never populated. I have seen that before more than once. A single.board used for several models. So various features may not be installed on some models, leaving areas unpopulated.
I can't imagine it leaving the factory like that if meant to have those parts installed.

It's a luxman sq 507x while this board is from a sq 505x. Not too sure what they have done or why they swapped the internals but one of the channels is dead so that's fun...

Actually it's just a sq 505x but with a sq 507x front panel..... I love this.
It’s the light model. Less parts, less filling.

More open holes let more sound through.
I have seen the same exact model of Luxman with different parts, one complete board populated and the other just jumpers? Both sounded great after restoration. The first thing I thought was a hack repair but it was original from the factory.

I had a Meridian preamp like that – it had a button in front that said PHONO, and RCA input-plugs in back that said PHONO – but it didn't have a Phono. Meridian couldn't provide one (discontinued) and refused to give, or even sell me a schematic to make my own.
But by adding 2 jumpers, I converted it to an extra Line Input, which came in handy. It only took about 15 minutes and required no butchery.

The differences in corporate "philosophy" is striking. When I contacted Meridian, they weren't helpful. They were almost "snotty" that I didn't have their newer, pricier gear, and they hung up the phone fast – they wanted me to hear the "click".
Around the same time, I called Conrad Johnson, also about a discontinued phono stage. They once made a Moving Coil Head Amp, the HV-1, that used Nuvistors. It was great. I had one, but it was full rack-size even though it was mostly empty space inside. I wanted to make a smaller one: it could easily be only 1/5 the size, fit under the turntable, and be hardwired to the arm wires.
The Rep at CJ was Miss Congeniality. I told her jokingly I was "pirating" it, but she still couldn't do enough to help. She immediately sent me the schematics, parts list, and circuit revisions. I could call her, and did so several times while building it. She even sent me diagrams for a full RIAA phono preamp too, even though I didn't ask for it.
Human nature baffles me. Why does someone who works for Meridian think the imprint on his business card make him a ****-hot superstar? If he worked for CJ, would he be a nice humble person? Does he have any identity of his own?
