World's BEST AC Outlets.....MAESRTO AC Outlets ???

Not open for further replies.
Well, I got my maestro outlets for my whole audio/video system today and want to wait a week or two so they can settle-in some before I say anything about how they sound. What I can say is on the video part is, my HDTV picture looks sharper and the colors look more natural with these maestro outlets in my system. It looks more like I'm looking through a window now! All this from just a ac outlet....more to come later.

Sounds neat, I'd like to hear more.

My maestro outlets have been settling-in for only 4 full days and nights playing music non-stop and they are already much better than my porter ports......clearly superior! These outlets are the most neutral and most accurate outlets that I have ever heard....by far! I want to wait and see how much more they improve in the next month or two before saying anything else.

Well, these maestro outlets are starting to settle-in good now and they sound Damn Good! Comparing my porter ports to these new maestro outlets the porter ports sounds closed-in and Flat sounding. The porter ports are not as clean or as clear. The porter ports low end sounds bloated when compared to the maestro outlets too. On complex musical passages I find myself turning down the volume more with the porter ports in my system......much more! Now with the maestro outlets in my system the Trasparency of these outles are truely amazing and I'm hopping it will keep getting better and better as time goes by! The soundstage is wider and deeper and there is more upper frequency air too. These maestro outlets have a lower noise floor that allows more of the suble cues to come through more. These maestro outlets also have better separation of individual instruments and vocals.......more natural sounding more REAL! I think the non-plated maestro outlets gives you a much more direct sound than the non-plated porter ports because the maestro outlets have a higher quality copper content. My vintage sansui sp-5500 horn speakers just completely disappears now and I have a very entry level system too. Marantz pm-7001 integrated amp with matching marantz cd player, DH Labs power plus power cables, very cheap copper interconnects from wal-mart, Synergistic Research alpha quad active speaker cables...... I think these maestro outlets will become an Instant Classic !..

Since I'm new here, and this group seems to have a generally healthy sense of humor, I have to ask: how much of this discussion is tongue-in-cheek?

The hospital recepicals that are red, as they have the ground plug on top as the male ground plug is generally longer, this is to visually see that ground is in first before the other two spades. The quality is that of the better quality recepticals that is sold in hardware stores.
There are usually two types of recepticals , the junkers that allow the plug to fall out of the wall, they have spades that the male plug slides into. The other has two spades 90d off from the slot that applies a lot of tension on the male spades as they are pushed in,and do not allow the plug to fall out of the wall, those usually costs $2.50 or less in Canada.

The ones advertized and appear to be cromed from the outside, to make the look better , if you stereo is sounding much better, the old recepical must had very poor contact and very likely your sterio is now settling in on normal AC voltage and allowing the power supply and caps to charge back up to what it was designed for.

Kind of wondering the same thing. I have to ask a question, though. Hospital grade outlets sometimes have some pretty sensitive equipment plugged in to them. If there were negative effects from these outlets, wouldn't it be seen with some of this type of equipment?

Just for the record, count me as skeptical, especially at $79. But, I am intrigued. I never really considered the AC source/connection as having an effect on the audio, but I would imagine that it does. These outlets are only a conductor in the AC source, however, unless they have some filtering effect, I can't imagine a difference. :scratch2:

This place is all about people discussing any tweaks they are trying or that they want to try and explaining their experiences with them. Nothing much tongue in cheek going on at all.

If you do a google search on this you will find out more about this.

I took your advice and did a fairly extensive google search. The result came back in terms of mechanical issues with cheap receptacles or the insulation around wires. Nothing about anything internal to the conductor itself, which is what I assume is supposed to be going on.

My question wasn't a trick one and I have no intention of attempting to throw a wet blanket on your experience. I am being open minded about this and if you or anyone on this thread know anything about the theory behind this I would love to hear it.

Some people support the idea that any electrical or electronic component must be burned in before it delivers its best performance.
As far as I know, it's a concept that applies only to audio gear because I have never seen the same notion applied to oscilloscopes, computers, high power transformers, GPS, charge amplifiers and other electronic equipment.

No, because it's not hi-fi audio equipment.

Admittedly, I've made the same observation and this is most likely correct (Occam's Razor).

I may be skeptical, but I'm also open minded. Just because I'm skeptical and can't find a basis (outside of a manufacturer's biased claim) does not mean that something isn't actually happening.

Even if nothing is actually happening, perceived improvement is still an improvement to the person who "hears" it. This is a pleasurable hobby, after all, and we should not take it too seriously. No life hangs in the balance, well, maybe the enjoyment of life...

i can see how replacing worn outlets will help with power transfer under heavy load. i would definitely be in agreement with replacing standard house outlets with hospital grade outlets because they are built to higher tolerances and grip better. once you have a good connection i cant see going further though. ultimately you are at the mercy of whatever your house was wired with in the walls.

This really sums up the difference between AK and all those other sites. Thanks for the reminder.

I really did this review too soon because my system is still improving even more now......cleaner........more open.......and more spacious sounding! I'm going to wait another week or so and do a update review on them then.
