I can't believe Sotheby's hasn't come calling, seriously. I caught a glimpse of a "John Denver" tab in one of the walls of records, so there is certainly quite a bit of crap in there, but oh the diamonds hidden within...

When they show his turntable wit the "45 RPM" headshell, it sways back and forth while the record is playing. I sometimes notice this a little bit on some used records, but is it normal and/or good to have that much movement? Also, anyone know what that record weight is that he's using? Is it just a glass (wine bottle?) that was cut down with a hole drilled into the center?

It looks like the glass thingy is the spindle for the 45 record. It looks to be slightly off center and is causing the arm to move back and forth like you observed. It's not good.

Ive heard that this guy used to own a record shop, and this collection is all the stuff that didnt sell.Im betting there are tons of Mantovani and Fabian records in that warehouse.

he had a record store, and he sold all his doubles there, he always kept the last album. So he has no doubles anymore, so I bet there are tons of valueable records there, of all kinds.

I really don't remember but it was a lot of $$$$$.

A thing is worth what you can sell it for. $50M or $3M is way over priced. Maybe a few $100K or something? We could all chip in an offer him a 1/10th of that. Where would we store it? Who would handle the check-in, check-out.

Goggle should buy it and digitize the % that have expired rights so that there could be more access to older music. Same as they are doing with books :)
