Yes.. understanding the wife may be unhappy with the larger speakers.. ;)

I get similar from mine when I bring home.. "yet another pair of LARGE speakers, to be saved" :dunno:

I believe the thought is 180 out in terms of our spousal understanding, men thinking how easy it is to move the larger cabinets indoors :beerchug:.. and the wives thinking how difficult it will be to move them out :rant:

For me personally.

This was a little while back. They’re now powered by a Pass Labs X250.

Be thankful that you have an SO who's on board with your keenness for the audio hobby and doesn't stand in yer way, eh?

Just be careful in the future for later electro additions of your craven...and balance it out with what she wants. It's one of the "teeter totters" in life.:D

My wife was much less tolerant when the delivery truck driver dropped off my used Von Schweikert Research VR-4s in 1999. She took one look at the four shipping cartons and said, "Those are not going in my family room." My main system has been in the unfinished basement ever since. She did concede that the speakers the VR-4s were slated to replace, a pair of Von Schweikert VR-2000 slim tower speakers, could stay in the family room as part of an extension system. They're currently driven by an early-1980s Nikko receiver that sounds better than it has any right to, with a Van Alstine-modified Magnavox CDP as a digital source.

604-8Hs were my first HUGE speaker in 602(?) cabinets. No replacement for displacement. They look very domesticated...nice score.
 
When I brought home my Magneplanar 1.7s:

"They're HUGE."
"I told you they were almost as tall as I am."
"No, you did NOT."

She basically decided to deal with it by explaining to visitors that the living room was my room, absolving her of responsibility, I guess. The Maggies are in the bedroom now. She likes the Quads a lot better:

Drove 6 hr through a winter wonderland rush hr traffic and white out condition's there and back .I was so excited and afraid to scratch them I picked it up and carried it to the vehicle myself as the gentleman had hurt his back.
Pure adrenaline and excitement the Ardens felt light as a father upon securing and wrapping it up and securing it in for its journey home I went back for her sister lol .
14 hrs later here I am at home at 6 am listening and not the slightest tired from my journey.

My wife is not mad at me she just said they are fricken huge not in those words and I'm not going to lie it made me burst out laughing,
Because deep down inside I knew she was right.
She is amazing and understands my love for my hobby .

Needless to say I have been patiently waiting for a pair to surface and they did at an incredible price I could not let pass.
So i pulled the trigger and the rest is history and my quest for my dream speakers is now over.

I never thought I would ever own these.
Just thought I'd share my day with you guys and girls.
Please feel free to share your personal story of finding and acquiring your dream speakers .
And if it was an issue with the big boss lady
I guess the next move is a tube amp hoping that wont be as heavy

My wife hates my stereo. She is jealous of it. She said she is going to take a hatchet to it the moment I am dead.
 
My wife doesn't understand my hobby at all, but she still lets me get away with murder. This picture is our currently messy living room (FWIW, that is an 80" screen). My main listening areas, where most of my gear lives, are upstairs and in the basement:)

You said Winter wonderland that's what Michigan was called and still is, so you got me wondering where did you travel to and what's the nearest approximate city that you are in?

Last fall I drove about 600 mi round trip for one of my pair of OHM Acoustics model H..
