WTH is wrong with people?

Uninsured motorist coverage is a must. Always. And it's cheap.

It's NOT cheap in NM.

Insurance IS mandatory here but it's impossible to get the twits at the MVD to do what they're legally required to do: require proof of insurance before issuing any license or processing any registration.

I don't get this texting crap!My van was totaled when some dumb girl hit it in front of my house !(Of course she wouldn't admit it but it had to be true!)Glad you are ok but a car totaled due to stupidity is really hard to take!

So true. Very common here in Florida....no insurance/DL, property, assets, responsibility...They're arrested all the time for one or another. Our local "Mugshots" site would show that, in my estimation, about 200 or 300 people arrested daily in Tampa Bay. Most of them for no valid DL, repeat or habitual offender, no insurance. They're bailed out, most often on their own recognizance, and on the road the next day with impunity.

I noticed your in Lutz. I used to live in Land O Lakes. Seen lots of accidents there.

Ron White said it best...You cant fix stupid.

I think there should be a law that all cell phone must be carried in the trunk of your car. This way you wont be tempted to use your phone while driving. Maybe add in 1 year in jail, 10,000.00 fine, 10 year suspension of your license. I wonder if that will get it all stopped? Maybe make a cell phone where it does what a land line does....just a phone.

Many states have the no texting in car law. Handsets only. I think there should be a complete ban in cars. If the phone rings you exit and call them back. I've seen many talking on cells using the headset. Making all kinds of bad driving.

SR 54 and US 41 no doubt. They're crazy up there!

Well, in Florida they don't punish like that even in a DUI Manslaughter.

texting while driving is out of control. people are addicted to phones. it's against the law in VA but I see people doing it every couple minutes while commuting. I'm honking and screaming at them every chance I get but mostly get ignored. Until they start yanking drivers licenses it will get worse.
Glad you are OK, some ain't so lucky

Good rule of thumb everyone. Always be at least a car length behind the next person at a stop sign or light. Theyb teach this is safety driving schools but very few people do it. Sorry to hear about your car. That sucks. Had a guy broadside me by running a stop sign, rolled my truck. Of course 15years old with no dl or insurance.

you do that here in Columbus Ohio and 2 vehicles will jump in that spot.

I drive MN Hwy 55 frequently, since it's a leisurely way to motor to the Twin Cities (with a bonus of stopping @ Dickinson Spring for an icy-cold cup of spring water:)), and there's a section near Buffalo that's part of an accident reduction project. There's signs saying "Concentrate On Driving", dots painted on the roadway 3 sec apart with advisory signs telling you to keep at least 2 dots between you & the car ahead, and other interesting advisories along the way. Seems like it's been effective, too!

Here in Metro Atlanta mandated driver's ed ended a few years ago. Talk about penny-wise and dollar foolish...

Now that it's the next day, & you've had time to regroup, I'd like to point out your grammar error, if I may. :D WTH = What The Hell, which you followed with a lower-case hell, without any precursor. This reads as What The Hell hell, which can't be right, especially since there's no comma seperating the Hell & the hell. For future reference, Hell, What The Hell would be more appropriate. :D ;)

I have a phone and I have a bluetooth headset I can just tap my earpiece if it rings while I am driving.
But honestly, I rarely get calls while I am driving - and I have a short commute.

Of course, I don't text, and think anyone stupid enough to text while driving should have their license revoked. No exceptions. Period.
I also see people in morning rush on the DC Beltway applying eye makeup at speed and all kinds of idiotic things.

I agree - you can't fix stupid.

Sorry about your car, but glad to hear you and yours weren't hurt.

Years ago, I had a woman rear-end me at a stop because she was READING A BOOK!!!

I **** you not!

Luckily, she was well insured and freely willing to admit to everyone what she had been doing.

Unbelievable.

Gentlemen,

Another thing all drivers should be taught! Do not tailgate any vehicle with handicapped driver license plates. You don't know what set of challenges that driver has.

Then we should put passengers in the trunk too. I've seen drivers actually turn to look at their passengers while talking to them, which seems much more dangerous than having the same conversation via a head set.

Seriously, you can't legislate good behavior, and I don't believe that those of us who use devices properly and safely should be punished for the behavior of those who don't.
