WTH is wrong with people?

Nothing else to say here 'cept that I'm glad you're OK, and that the VBF that caused it (was it, in fact, a bill on the floor?) ought to sit in jail and see ins rates quad or quint.

Sorry to hear about your car and hope your ills heal quickly.

"Smith was cited for speeding and driving without liability insurance."

Wow, no liability insurance? Good luck collecting anything from this guy!

The sad thing is...we are going to have to pay for the damage on the Hyundai, the people behind us is going to have to pay for our crap, the woman in the escalade is going to have to pay for the people behind us...and the lady with the escalade is just assed out. this is just screwed all the way around. This guy needs to be in jail. He needs to have the **** beat out of him.

Went through this a few years ago when my daughter was hit by an uninsured, the real kicker was when he and his buddy tried to sue us over him hitting her.

You can count on him still being out there driving, those who have nothing don't worry about consequences. Next time he won't have a drivers license either.

Well heres an update. Finally found out he had insurance. Only 15,000.00 dollars worth. They have totaled the 04 Cadilliac SRX, the 02 Ford Taurus and our car. Damages and replacement cost for the 3 are over 50,000.00. The book on the SRX is 42,000.00. They valued the Taurus at 4000.00 and ours at 4800.00. So I have a lawyer cause I am hurt. The old lady has a neck problem. The people behind us was hurt and the lady in the SRX is hurt. She didnt think she was till she got home. They are saying they can split up the money and thats it. I dont think so. Neither does my lawyer.

Wow , sorry to hear about your accident . Well at least you and your wife are ok . That was a nice caddy ........................

Hopefully they will get this resolved soon , but it doesnt seem to work out that way .

Its going to get ugly before it gets better. I will have to send you some pics of the damage.

I hope you folks heal well. I still have issues from my side impact collision. Which will likely be there as long as I am. But I'm trying to overcome all.

Well, if you put it into perspective, the big thing is that you and your family didn't get hurt. Cars come and go, and I know it sucks to have a brand new one bashed by an idjut, but you've still got everything that is "really" important to you.

Well said Jay

Well here is some good news. I got a call from the insurance company today. They are ready to settle on the car. We bought it in February. I gave 2500.00 for it. They are willing to give us 2516.00 and we keep the car. So it looks like we made 16.00 on it and still have it. Still sucks that it has 5000.00 worth of damage.

Then we should put passengers in the trunk too. I've seen drivers actually turn to look at their passengers while talking to them, which seems much more dangerous than having the same conversation via a head set.

Seriously, you can't legislate good behavior, and I don't believe that those of us who use devices properly and safely should be punished for the behavior of those who don't.

bs

Studies have shown that cell phone use is much more dangerous than having passengers in the car or using the radio, etc. The passenger issue in part is that the driver's inattentiveness is offset by a second set of eyes. Also, for whatever reason the part of the brain that is used for driving is also far more engaged when used for cell conversations and/or texting than for other common activities a driver undertakes as well as driving. I read a British study that dealt with this in detail, but I don't recall the specific physiological reasons.

I recall that in the movie "The Fifth Element" the cab driver (Bruce Willis) had to insert his license into a slot to even operate the vehicle. Good idea, and quite feasible with current technology.

Something doesn't add up. Did anyone asked where the $20 bill came from? Can't be from the child as no one gives a child that amount to play with. Was the child young enough to be put in a car seat? Then the bill would have to have been 'blown' up front and unless it was incredibly hot that day, no one is going to drive sixty w/ a child with the windows down. He either had the heater blowing hard or ac blowing hard.

Either way, he probably could have caught it if he wasn't texting. :nono:
