XA - XB bases

Simple question: are the AR XA and XB bases interchangeable? I would sure like a wood base as a step up from the vinyl wrapped base on my XB.

No they are not. and yes, I agree the solid wood one that AVfan made for the XB i'm working on now is impeccable. I'll be shipping it back to the customer this week, but if you want to see/hear this table come by monday or tuesday. I also have XA bases is several grades of walnut to give you an idea of what they can look like when finished.

Just to add to Marc's response...the top plate of the XB fits under a lip along the top edge of the base while the XA does not have a lip and it's top plate sits on the top of the base's edge. Making an XB base has a few extra steps due to the top lip but I couldn't agree more that a solid wood base is so much better looking than the original vinyl covered XB base.
