I stand corrected. I got the XRT30s and XRT2Ks confused when I was thinking of the tweeters. The XRT30 tweeters are soft dome not metal.

Were you measuring from the listening position? Have you tried moving the mike within 1 meter of the speaker to minimize the room effects? The steep roll off could be at least partly due to the 68 square feet of Auralex 2" Wedge Studio foam in my room.

Good idea. I just measured it again 3 feet in front of the speaker. It measured close to flat up to 16khz and at 17,820hz -3db and at 20khz -6db. So the speakers are not rolled off, it is my room with all the treatments.PHC1 said:Were you measuring from the listening position? Oh heck, what's $60k between friends. That was close, you were only off by $60K...

Preferred method of room treatments are absorption on the front wall and diffusion on the back wall behind the listening position. With the sidewalls, the dispersion characteristics of the tweeters should dictate the proper selection. At least you don't have to worry about the ceiling so much with your speakers. :thmbsp:I could try taking down some of the foam and use dispersion treatments instead of the foam absorption. For now I will probably leave it, but I may try some different treatments in the future. It just sounds so good right now, I'm not sure I want to mess with it.

The currency exchange gets me all confused. Your Singapore Dollars to our US Dollars, screw it, let me just send you a brick of gold and be done with it. Give me a few days to dig one up, I have a few burried in my back yard. :yes:Yeah! How about splitting that with this "little cash, real McNut" fan here?
I don't have to worry about the floor either.PHC1 said:Preferred method of room treatments are absorption on the front wall and diffusion on the back wall behind the listening position. With your extended knowledge I am shocked you have not built your own speakers. I see DIY in your future.![]()
Some of us just take great pride in building speakers ourselves.

:nono: That's a good one. :lmao:Funny this should be mentioned. A developer has just settled out of court because he sold an apartment over here claiming to have 10'4" high ceilings. Upon measuring the owner found it to be 9' 7". The developer then claimed that he measured "floor to ceiling" from the floor of one apartment to the floor of the apartment above!
In his case his ceiling really was carpeted! Just not on the right side!
