YAM 7.2 RX-V675- RAV290 “setup”remote functions not working with SamTV?

I have a Yamaha RX-V675 [7.2] Receiver, with an accompanying remote, RAV290/ “WR00240-US”
The surround speaker set-up I chose, was from a local Orange County, Ca., speaker company, “Hsu sound Research” ‘Ventriloquist’ 6.1 speakers system, (front L&R) [2]
(Center) and, [1]
(rear L&R) [2]
(rear center) [1] AND,
12” Subwoofer 200w) [1]

46” Samsung Smart TV, [UN46H5203AF/ZA]
[2010 - 14 yrs old in, 2024]
I used to be able to use my Yamaha RAV290 remote using the SETUP button, then was able to do a “sound check”on each speaker channel to see if the speakers worked. I was also able to use the provided Yamaha “microphone thingie” to place from where I would be watching the TV from my chair, to balance each channel.
Now, I am not able to get into anything at all!
I am very curious, if I need a new replacement remote (maybe from Amazon) to be able to once again, have the ability to press the, SETUP, OPTION, RETURN, DISPLAY, TOP MENU, BUTTONS ON YAMAHA REMOTE, to again, be able to have a “working” remote control, that will help me gain access to the available functions so I can, “Dial In,” on my surround sound, and other settings, on my older, 2010 UN46H5203, Sammy TV?
Yes, I do have a TOS optical cable from Yam Receiver to TV.

Could this be that all I need, is to do a factory reset on this old remote control, IF POSSIBLE, and if not, will buying a new RAV290 remote replacement, allow me to AGAIN access my Samsung TV’s preset sound settings, OR, am I completely out of luck?

Do these remotes suddenly stop working in time, to the point of no longer gaining access to the much needed TV SETUP SETTINGS?
Does this mean that If I want a remote control to again gain access to needed SETUP buttons on remote, do I possibly need to buy a new TV, with a new remote?
I wouldn’t think so, but my Samsung is now, 14 years old. This TV, along with a five year warranty,
The RX-V675, I bought at Fry’s Electronics, in 2013, to replace my Yamaha RX-V665, which became defective within the warranty period.

Your setup as described was functionally normally, allowing setup to be used to sound check each speaker, then it stopped working? If so, then you can test the IR LED on the remote as follows.

You may be able to use your phone camera to see if the IR LED is working. If you hold the suspect button down continuously you should see a flashing LED while viewing the front of the remote with your phone camera. See the image below.



If no LED then you likely need a replacement remote (this test assumes the batteries are not dead).

I suspect you could find an original remote on ebay if this test proves the remote isn't working.

I know of no remote factory reset but your receiver should have a factory reset function. You can check your owner's manual for that procedure. I doubt this will affect the remote's behavior but it may wake up the IR receiver in the Yamaha RX-V675, if the remote proves functional.
