Yamaha B-2

Grrrrrr...I wanted to not be totally broke for a while. I'm reaaallly thinking about it.

The B-2 is better sounding than most of the vintage preamps it would have been hooked-up to.
Probably some of the criticism this amp is given deserves to be aimed further upstream.
My B-2 is one of the better purchasing decisions I've made.
I'd love to find something(vintage SS)which beats it(they are out there,if few in number). :smoke:

Well guys, I'm going for it. I'd saved a little because I had my eye on a new bike. However, it can't be ordered yet because my dealer is losing his franchise - pity.

I went through the registration process, and now they say I have to wait 4-8 hours for completion. At least I don't have to work until tomorrow afternoon, so I can check my e-mail every half hour...

I've already got a Yamaha M4 (also with a flaky A switch), so I'm excited about this possibility... thanks! And if I don't get it, congrats to whoever does!

** I've been authenticated, so I sent my message of interest - fingers crossed! **

Good luck!

Just got a call from my sis from Battery Park 2 wks ago. Many a fine (and foggy) memory of 3 great years stationed in Charleston! I still love the Windjammer on Isle of Palms! Saw Rapid Eye Movement out there a L O N G time ago, yep R. E. M.

You're getting a great deal on a Yamaha B-2. It's one of the best sounding amps there is period. If you can afford to, send it to EchoWars for refurbishing. He refurbished one for me including replacing the big filter caps.

No response yet, maybe I'm just being twitchy. How do people usually communicate on that site? I made sure to include my real name, my handle, and my real e-mail, so I can only wait...

"The amp works fine except that the speaker A switch is flaky, you need to press it several times for it to work, speaker A switch works fine". Uh, TWO A switches?

Well, the trigger has been pulled. He's supposed to ship it ground UPS, and I specified that he double-box it. Wrap w/ plastic, fill with packing material, into box one. Then put box one into box two, also filled with packing material. I hope this goes well... if not, I'm blaming everyone in this thread!:pistols:

Hope everybody has a rocking Fourth!

Thick layers of bubblewrap, more bubblewrap, boxes lined with styrofoam, more bubblewrap, more styrofoam are your best shot for an unharmed delivery ;)

Hope you enjoy it, that's a great amp!

That's a shame.
Here's wishing you better luck next time.

If you are replying to my msg.... I bid on that B-2 because I wanted a spare and the price was right. It didn't work out.

On a bright note, the B-2 I have works great. In fact, I put new lamps in it today.

Hmm. Did the protection relay click? Did you massage the switches? It seems like a seller with good feedback, and a non-DOA policy wouldn't resell a known dead unit. Could it have been something minor you looked over?

I worked it over a bit. Keep in mind I already had a B-2, so I "know how" to use one. It never came out of protection.

Seller claimed it was returned damaged so he wouldn't refund the purchase price. I offered to initiate the insurance process (I did insure it) but that I wanted the no DOA refund up front. It took some convincing but I did get it back. Then he said that he didn't want to go through the refund process and he didn't give a reason)

If the buyer wishes to contact me through PM, I'll see if I can find the email/ebay messages.

walkandtalk, thinking good thoughts for you, though all this info is abit worrisome. It could be just fine, hope ya had a rockin' weekend:thmbsp:
