Agreed... I sent the guy an email. He did have two listed on Audiogon.... and maybe he fixed it better than new.
And the speaker switch thing is an easy fix, I can talk you through that when you get it.

Thanks, reading these after a few days at the beach, yep, I'm a little nervous. The seller did clarify that this was a second amp, and not the one described in the text of the listing. But now... I guess I'll just have to wait and see!

Ok, now I'm really worried.
I was gone over the weekend, and just returned. I had paypal'd the seller on Thursday around 2:00pm central time (I didn't know there were other AK'ers involved at the time).
There weren't two B2s when I emailed and paid for the one. If I am getting the amp that is advertised with the flaky switch, it is also the amp the was DOA to SpecialIdiot.
I just emailed him for an explanation. I own a few other B2s, so if there is a problem, I will know. I have a few extra parts, but was not in the mindset of buying a work-in-progress.

Well I hope it works out, I really do.
First I had a similar problem with a speaker switch on my B-2. That got fixed over the weekend. I pulled the face plate off to replace meter bulbs, and found that the insert that guides the pushbutton switch through the face plate was out of alignment. I put it back in place and it works fine.
Regarding the emails - sorry but they have all been deleted and must be over the time limit as they are not searchable in ebay or gmail.

Sure sorry to read that this may well be a problem amp/problem seller. The B-2 itself sure is a NICE amp, when working.
Mine has developed a few issues. :tears: That's what I get for not fully re-capping/renovating it when I got it, but for sure it will be getting all the TLC it needs. A fine amp, for sure.
I just never quite get over the fact that 100% of the wiring in that amp is pure silver (no copper wires, just one 2.5mm thick copper plate!), with high-silver-content solder where solder was used. Nearly every component in it was the best available at the time... no bean-counter influence to be found in it, anywhere, as far as I can tell. Who on Earth makes that kind of quality amp, today, for less than super-megabucks (if at all)?!

I was inside my B-2 on Sunday in order to replace a couple of burned out meter lamps.
Yeah, built like a tank for certain. It looks to be pretty easy to work on, so once I get a backup running I'll recap the thing.
Fully worth keeping up to spec. I just wish I had a jar full of replacement v-fets for it.

The B-2 arrived via UPS today. It was decently packed, and in good physical condition. The chassis appears to have been torqued a little; the cover still fits fine but it's obvious that the faceplate is just a little to the left of the chassis... looking inside everything looked ok, just some dust and cat hair inside. I tried it out with some radio shack full-range drivers (no sense blowing up anything good, eh?) and they really came to life! The left meter doesn't light up, but the meter functions fine. After warming up with the raw drivers, I hooked up the Bozaks. I am quite pleased with the quality of the sound - my M-4 is great, but there's just a little more oomph on the low end and the highs really do sparkle. I'm still listening to different stuff, putting it through it's paces, but I can't really complain much about the whole deal.

You can easily replace the lamps for the meters, there are two each so you need Radio Shack cat #272-1092 (AKA #7219 on the package). Call your RatShack ahead of time as their normal stock is 2 packages of 2 bulbs.
Just remove the faceplate, and pull of the rubber lamp holder with your fingers. Unthread the lamps and their bare leads, then thread in the new ones.

So this is a follow-up. The audiogon seller had 2 B-2s for sale. I got one and Walk&Talk got one.
After SpecialIdiot was gracious enough to tell us the trials and tribulations of his B-2 amp that he won on ebay, which was DOA/damaged in shipping, I found out that the amp I just purchased was the same amp.:sigh:
The seller was up front about the repairs (after I called him on it. It was not mentioned in the ad). He stated the back of the amp was bent in, and it broke 2 pieces of the protection board.
The seller bent the rear panel back and then used scrap PCB board pieces and glued them to the OEM board for support.
Apparently no traces were broken. He got it working again, and resold it to me.:grumpy:
I received the amp (it shipped before I found out about its true history), and without opening the box or testing it, I sent it back. I did get a refund today (minus $50 in shipping), which was helped along by the dispute process of AG.
I tried to give him a fair offer for it as a parts amp, and have him refund $150 of my $425 payment, but he didn't want to do that. Actually he wouldn't consider a return until AG got involved.:bash:
This is a warning that there is a B-2 out there in San Jose area (with a flaky Speaker A switch) that may be back on the market soon. Caveat Emptor!! While it may be working, and be a decent parts amp, one of the main boards has been broken and glued!
Also, the amp was single-boxed (not the OEM boxing), and I have no idea if the amp made it to my house in one piece or back in one piece, as I didn't remove it for inspection. So, poor packaging as well.:nono::nono:

I'm sorry to hear that it went so poorly for NumbDiver. I think that this whole transaction has taught me the true value of the "Community" that Audiokarma offers, particularly to noobs like myself who are just getting into the hobby. The saftey-net, the advice, the support have been invaluable to me, and so I took the plunge... notice that I am now a paid subscriber - a moocher no more!
