i just a burst of noise when the disc direct is switched in the circuit and again when switched
out of the circuit.
but there is no noise when engaged in the circuit it is dead quite.yes the noise is in both channels
and is equal.
i replaced ry104 i'm sure i changed the correct one but then i have been known to mistakes.

Go through step 3 & 5 of the adjustments. 0dB AMP & INVERTER AMP adjustment - this adjusts the ( normal pre-out DC offset ) and the 0dB buffer amp DC offset.

i hooked up my fluke multimeter and my vtvm and the voltages at the outputs did not change
very much , i'm beginning to think i will have to buy more test equipment.
the s/m calls for a signal generator and a o scope.are these necessary to finish the adjustment
or am i doing something wrong?

i hooked up my fluke multimeter and my vtvm and the voltages at the outputs
And what voltages did you initially see before adjustments ? Left and Right specific for step 3 and step 5 ?

i first tried just step 3 because thats the first the step in the s/m( kind of), the voltage only changed when
i turn on the preamp other than that there was no voltage change.
maybe i'n not understanding the process as well as i thought, i set both meters at the lowest
range for AC and still no change

i got step 3 voltages to 0volts and the output voltage to 0 volt step 1 and 2 the voltages around
i can see now i will have to replace them with multi-turn pots.
i was trying to adajust step 7 ,i found tp1 and tp2 and i found tp3 but cannot find tp4 anywhere.
i pluged in my headphone and the noise burst is still in the disc direct is still there maybe
this is something i will just to live with at least most of the adjustment have been made.

well now i'm wondering what happened now i have the trimmers adjusted as close as i can get them now i get a bit of motorboating you know the putt putt noise when i turn the preamp on
and a distorted sqeal when i turn it off,i get lots of noise in all the phono inputs shorting them seems to help some. the whole preamp was recapped this year and 90% of the boards
were reflowed so i can eliminate that problem . tomorrow i'll hok up my other tt and see if
the noise is still there.
th thanks for you help so far

avionic i will get my turntable hooked up later in the week, but i think that may be the problem
i will let you know how it goes.
