Yamaha CA-1010 Power Meters Problem

When I turn my Yamaha CA-1010 on or off, the power meters swing up to half scale then down. After that, operation is normal. I know it's a long shot and I have studied the meter board schematic until I want to scream, but can someone please help me solve the problem.

Mine does the same thing; I just assumed that was normal.:dunno:
 
The turn-on transient is muted by a relay. So, if there is no input from the power amp, why do the power meters momentarily go to half scale during turn on and turn off? Maybe it's related to an inrush current to the meter board. I could not see one on my VOM. I can't believe the Japanese would build a product with this needle indication problem when there is no input to the meter circuit board during turn-on.
 
To the best of my knowledge, which is virtually nil, it doesn't affect anything. The needles simply jump at the initial power up. What that means I don't know. If they are not supposed to then I may become a bit concerned for a bigger issue.
 
That's the dilemma. I cannot find out if Yamaha designed it that way...with power needles jumping at power-on. If there's a Yamaha engineer out there familiar with the CA1010, please clarify (chime in).

where do you think that information will be found ?? I already give you the right answer to this question in another post when you send this question in double . What is the problem ? Why do you think that this phenomenon is a problem or a malfunction ?? The CA 2010 do it too and if I good remember the CA810 too . What is a problem when nedle are moving when you switch the power on ??
Why are you looking for problem who do not exist ?? do not compare with other YAMAHA models because they are different !
I work on YAMAHA products since more than 35 years and I know about what I am talking about .
If you have any doubt make a thread asking for other CA1010/2010 owners and you will have the proove you are looking for
no need to be Yamaha engineer
 
It's normal. Been using Yammy CR receivers for near 30 yrs.

What dilemma? What difference does it make? Seeking a problem in search of a solution.
 
IT would be interesting to poll Yamaha CA1010 owners and determine how many have noticed the power meters jumping at turn-on and turn-of.
 
I vote yes. It was endemic to all Yammys of that era. Help me understand this. What would you do if it was only that model or only your model? Replace the meters? Waste double digit hours "trouble" shooting a non issue with no fix?
 
Well, at a minimum, those interested would know if the meter thing is systemic. There's comfort in numbers. The phenomenon is irritating to me. My wife tells me I'm a perfectionist.
