Yamaha CA-810 vs Sansui 7070

Hi
Which amp is better as vinyl amp out of the twos? Sansui 7070 is ofcourse as per market trend about 100 bucks more than Yamaha but i have read really good reviews about ca 810 but no comparison with similar budget amps of Sansui...
Any advice will be helpful.

Receiver verses integrated amp. Not quite the same thing but I'd take the Yammie, unless you listen to the radio.

I am very sure I wouldn't spend time on radio. Mostly I want it for my vinyls. Currently using a cheap preamp hooked into Yammie Rx 475v. But would like to try vintage amp.
Whats the difference between integrated amp vs receiver? I thought CA810 and 7070 would fall in same bucket and will be more or less comparable in sound quality
 
Receiver = tuner + pre amp + power amp in the same box. Integrated amp = pre amp + power amp in same box. Some (most vintage) receivers and integrated amps have Phono input capability, some do not.

Electronic gear companies often have their own "house sound". A Sansui is likely to sound at least a little different than a Yamaha. Can you go and listen to both the 810 and 7070? If so, take your own speakers if possible.
 
That's a good point. Yamahas tend to sound more neutral while Sansuis have a warmer sound. Which one is better? Depends on your preference.
 
So if you are not going for radio - take the Yamaha. Especially for the Phono-section you won't find a better amp of those days. Two (!!) inputs with different impedances for MM and also an additional one for MC. No question what to take!
 
Now I am more of thinking of going for R-S 700 or R-S 500 stereo. It has phono. But can't find much reviews for it.
 
Both are nice receivers, and I almost got the R-S500 instead of my AS-500 but really wanted to go seperates. Look them up on Amazon and you will find personal reviews on them from purchasers.

Yes. . I am actually inclined for A-S 500. I am not into radio so a separate will do for me. I have pretty much drop the idea for vintage. But I couldn't find any reviews for the pre amp sound quality of new yamaha models like RS/AS 500/ 700.
How is it? Currently cos of my limited budget and space constraint i am going for Emotiva XPS1.
When ill upgrade i think I'll fir AS500/700 eventually. ..
Do tell please if you have tried is phono for records. . :)

I have the Yamaha AS-500 integrated amp with the Yamaha TS-500 tuner and a Yamaha CD player for my bedroom system (see avatar) and really love em. I do spend a lot of time listening to FM radio (probably 80% or the time) as background music. The convenience of the receiver is that it takes less space than separates and sounds good.

Have you tried the phono for A-S500? Curious to know how its preamp works...
 
Actually it sounds pretty darn good. I originally had the TT hooked up to it in the bedroom when I had a stereo cabinet in there with the speakers on stands - -but wifes medical supplies took over the space and I had to move it to top of dresser. But, while I had it that way my DUAL 1219 sounded amazing with the AS-500.
 
While I am a Sansui fanatic, I like the older pre 1971 amplifiers and receivers best. I think on this comparison, Yamaha is the superior sounding choice. And this is from when Yamaha was making some of their finest gear.

Yeah... i have read lots of good reviews about sansui G series and 7070, 8080 and 9090. I was almost about to buy 7070 for 300 or so.
Currently, i like Yamaha's sound. Very neutral even for digital formats.
My wife doesn't like vintage things, so mostly will have to settle at a new phono amp. Thats why was thinking A-S 500. It is in reasonable price.
Other good sounding amps with phono are very expenssive and nothing less than 1000 bucks
