Yamaha CDX 930

Hey,
I'am new on this site and from the netherlands. My Englisch writing is no so good so I'am sorry herefore.
For about a week of 3 I have a Yamaha CDX 930 cd player. I have bought it broken for 10 euro (what on this moment is about 6 dollars)

I have replaced the optical and have tried to getting it running. The first owner has tried to repair it also and he has turned all the trim pot settings.

I have tried it manual (i know you need a scope however i dont have such a device)
So i have spend a few evenings to try diverce trim pot settings and as you gues... Nothing happens. So I get the idea to throw it out the window and to kill some one just to get rid of the frustation. So i get some coffee and a sigaret and try it again. And this helps because i get it working for 3 seconds...... The optical clicks two times and the motor spins for 3 secons and then.... It stops. So now I take 4 cups of coffe and a sigaret and a sigar and try it again. The hole room was blue of the smoke and it smells like a T shirt wich you have on your boy for two weeks and as you gues it is still not running. So i get to the web to search for a service manual. I cant find anything (yes whn you will pay) The fun of getting these kind of player for such money is that it will stay cheap. So my question is Has someone a good picture of the insite of this player so i can see the correct trim pot settings. There are about 7 trim pots. I dont asked for the service manual because i think that you have payd for it and i dont want to be a person who wants to be a ( i dont know the englisch word but i think you untherstand what i mean)
Ofcourse i know that the trim pot settings are delicate to getting right however with the help of a picture i think i will gt in the nighbourhood and i will still have the fun to do it manual.

many thanks and regards

Sorry can't help with naked 930 pics, but it sems it is the same transport and laser as in the CDX-1030, so you might be abel to find some info on that and see if the settings do the trick.

PS. 10€ is the same as $15.46, the dollar is quite low at the moment.

----EDIT----

I found a pic on the net but the resolution is not that good.

once you turn all the pots your lost, you will most certainly need a SM and your comment on smoke, you probably in much deeper S*it than pot adj. i believe its time for a qualified Tech

Thanks for the reactions.
The CDX 1030 has a complete different print so these picture will not help me but many thanks for these picture.
About the smoke. It was not from the CD player but from the many sigarets and sigars I smoked to get rid of the frustrations.....
And indeed the dollar is for us low on these moment so is will be about 16 dollars.

I think (but not sure) that de CDX 930 is more like a 730 The 930 is from year 1989 - 1991. I have it in titanium look en it has optical as well analoge outputts.

So as i have told. I have replace the optical and i have tried with de focus offset and focus gain trim pots to get at least a focus. To times i came in the nighboorhood. The optical clicks to times to focus and the cd starts spinning for 3 seconds. The speed was not high so i think the optical would not regonice the data. With a volt meter i have set the focus off set on about 0 mv but i think all the other pot meters are wrong. Because a 1/16 turn is already a mayor setting it is very hard to get the setting right. But that is the fun It is like a puzzle. But when you ar puzzle and you are missing a piece the fun is then a lot less.

On this moment is the situations that when i power up the player the optical gives every time two clicks and i can see that the optical moves up and down. No more and no less. The spindle motor is oke.

regards

As far as I am informed the laser unit of bough the CDX-930 and 1030 is the TAOHS-KP2 witch is a Toshiba high-end laser, it resides in all the Yamaha high-end units of that time (CDX-1030, 1050 and 1060). The laser in the CDX-730 is the KSS150A (Sony), the DAC of the 930 is the MN6471M (same as the 1030) the 730 has the AD1860N-J + YM3417D filter. So I highly dough that the 930 shares PCB wit the 730, if any assemblance with another model it would be the CDX-1030.

The CDX-930 is from year 1990-1992, the 730 year 1990-1991. The 1989 lineup is the CDX-xx20.

But strangely the pics show a better build quality of the CDX-930 than the 1030 (and also then my 1060). Is it possible that you can snap a pic of you're CDX-930 and post it in the CDX thread in the digital forum?
