I'm working on a yamaha CR-1020. this is the first one of these i've ever opened up. but I have restored many sansui, marantz and HK units.
i notice a light to medium buzz that increases with time from the phono input. another clue is the two small caps furthest to the right on the board, if i touch the top metal part with a screwdriver when it's buzzing, the buzz gets very loud. So, I replaced those and about 6 caps on the phono board to no relief. (same issue including louder buzz when touching the caps). then started to think that since the buzz is equal from both channels, it's prob NOT the phono board since it's separated by L/R channel.
my question is, have any of you experienced this? i haven't swapped out any other parts thus far. there is no buzz from other inputs. was thinking of recapping the power board(s) next and see if that helps. but i guess it could be a transistor as well? i've read that those ones in the metal boxes on the amp board can go bad due to heat. appreciate any suggestions.
